Living Smart – Creating Sustainable Communities
Living Smart is a hands-on, interactive workshop series that helps build sustainable living skills. It runs over 7 weeks, allowing participants to see the changes they're making, to support each other and to build a resilient community around change.
We cover a range of topics including water, energy, transportation, waste, healthy home, healthy you, living simply, building community and environmental justice.
The focus is on helping YOU look at your own lifestyle, deciding on the goals that will work for YOU in the short and long term, and making commitments to yourself to work towards those goals. With this in mind, the structure and topics covered in the course are decided by the participants during the first session.
It is part skills-training, part inspiration, and part support. The best part? All of this happens in a community with others who are taking the next steps on their sustainability journey, too!
Classes run Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9pm:
1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26
Series may look something like this (final content determined by participants at Session 1):
· Week One: Sustainability and Climate Change / Living Simply
· Week Two: Energy / Transportation
· Week Three: Waste/Water
· Week Four: Healthy Home/Healthy You
· Week Five: Gardening for Productivity and Biodiversity
· Week Six: Building Community, Environmental Justice
· Week Seven: Finalize personal goals, commitment to community & exploring activism
TO REGISTER
Cost is $140 - $350. Anything over $140 goes to our scholarship fund.

Living Smart Bay Area is a collaboration between educators, facilitators, community-builders, makers, and all participants. It branches off from Australia’s Living Smart program, brought to the SF Bay Area by Helen Whitkin and Renata Martin.
