"The Air Force had identified all the things he needed to know -writing ,photography, layout ,editing ,pagination-and crammed them into a six month course ,when he finished he was proficient in all of them ,unlike many collage grades who tended to take more english and literature classes. Those classes are good and certainly worthwhile ,but not as important as you might think for actual newspaper work " . I would like to use this information for my argumentative essay because it shows more knowledge the more successful u become

Common core standards that refers to reading across all subjects, not just in English class.Teachers in social studies, science and math should require more reading, which would allow English teachers to continue to assign literature. I will use this information in  my argumentative essay. That could be a reason why we  need to read more nonfiction, and

Q3&4
We can collect many information form the article, which the name is “Many States Adopt National Standards for Their Schools”,but I don‘t get the information which can use in my argumentative essay. The interesting information I read is the nation’s governors and state school chiefs can released their recommendations for national education standards, they plan to chang the secretary of education。In the article:“They lay out detailed expectations of skills that students should have at each grade level. Second graders, for example, should be able to read two-syllable words with long vowels, while fifth graders should be able to add and subtract fractions with different denominators.” This paragraph talk about how the national education standards will be change. I won's use this information because I cannot get the idea which can march the topic for my argumentative essay.

Base on yesterday's artile I know that idea of common core standard is begin on July 2010. Most states adopet the common core standard.(one of reasons they adopt common core standard is they want to get money from federal government ) This article also shows the different opinion of adopt the common core standard.

1. "Adoption of the standards does not bring immediate change in the classroom. Implementation will be a long-term process, as states rethink their teacher training, textbooks and testing."
This kind of new standard need to take long-term process. If states adopt the Common core standard before they ready for it (needs for education, teachers, etc.), that will not have immediate change in the classroom!

2."Increasingly, national standards are seen as a way to ensure that children in all states will have access to a similar education — and that financially strapped state governments do not have to spend limited resources on developing their own standards and tests. "&"“We’ll have states working together for the first time on curriculum, textbooks, assessment,” said Mr. Duncan. “This will save the country billions of dollars.” "
Those two evidences reveal the purpose of the common core standard---ensure that children in all states will have access to similar education and the benifit which states can get by adopet the common core standard---save the money.

3."States that adopt the standards are allowed to have additional standards, as long as the common core represents at least 85 percent of their English and mathematics standards. "
This sentence shows what's the common core represents.

4."The problem of wide variations in state standards has become more serious in recent years, as some states weakened their standards to avoid being penalized under the federal No Child Left Behind law. This time, the standards were developed by the states themselves, not the federal government. Last year, the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers convened English and math experts to put together benchmarks for each grade. "
This is the impulse to adopt or  to implement the common core standard.

Those informations show the advantages and disadvantages of the common core standard, but that doesn't means some states don't like this standard but they do need more time to ready for it. I will like to use those imformations but I don't know how to put those evidences in to my argument essay. :(   Are there have some of those four evidences can use by counter-example. For example the common core standard need to take long-term process and it's hard to implement before states ready for it, so we need to prepare to the standard by changing the curriculum program ( give each grade of student more difficult assignment to do)

3. What interesting information did you read that you will not use?
“I’m struggling with this, and my students are struggling,” said Highfill, who was named 2011 middle school teacher of the year in her state. “With informational text, there isn't that human connection that you get with literature. And the kids are shutting down. They’re getting bored. I’m seeing more behavior problems in my classroom than I've ever seen.”
Both the students and the teachers hate the new common core standard because it's boring and it is causing more behaviors.
4. Why won't you use that information?
I would not use this information because I am going to write about how the non-fiction book is going to help the student become more intelligent. This information would not help me on the paper, so I would not use this information.

The information I will use for my essay is "Spengler also believes children who move from one state to another will have an easier time making the transition to a new school once most states have fully adopted Common Core standards." and "The new standards, said Volusia School Superintendent Margaret Smith, "definitely have a higher expectation of student achievement" than Florida's system and encourage more in-depth instruction on a narrower range of topics." I want to use these information because these information show the standard is helping students, not a hinder to them. And if I'm writing a essay that agree to use this standard, the information is very helpful to me.

                        1&2
In the news journal i will use the information for my essay is, let all the student to read non-fiction books. That will improve academic performance, this is a  important requirements of the Common core standards. If all the states use the common core standards, most students will getting more progress for their  each subjects. Because in the non-fiction we can learn many about each subjects' knowledge. I will use that information in my essay, cause it is important for students to learning and learning is very important for each students.

I collected an useful information from article

Common core sparks war over words

By Lyndsey LaytonPublished: December 2

,which says "students have suffered from a diet of easy reading and lack the ability to digest complex nonfiction, including studies, reports and primary documents. That has left too many students unprepared for the rigors of college and demands of the workplace" I will use this because that,in my eassy ,i need to fistly talk about the problem of exsiting standards --("students have suffered from a diet of easy reading and lack the ability to digest complex nonfiction,,,many students unprepared for the rigors of college and demands of the workplace"),then ,i will introduce Girls Of Atomic City and prove it match the "complex nonfiction" .

I found that teacher have to put away their favor teaching style, lesson, and book  because of the common cord standard that have to change to nonfiction book and poem. I would
not use because I going to write about how the common cord help student.

Nonfiction reading can excite some students, said Nell Duke, who teaches language, literacy and culture at the University of Michigan. “Some students really prefer factual kinds of texts,” she said, noting that some studies have suggested boys especially prefer nonfiction. “Historically, elementary schools haven’t given kids much opportunity to read that kind of text. For those kids, reading storybook after storybook about talking animals could be a bit of a turnoff.”

What information did you collect yesterday that you will use in your argumentative essay?
I think the reason why I will use this excerpt on my argumentative essay is I think it can help me to convince the high school teacher to teach the nonfiction books on high school do the high school student

Why will you use that information?
The reason that I will use this information is that it is useful to support my topic for my essay so I think that is the reason of it

3.What interesting information did you read that you will not use?
"Even Massachusetts, which many regard as having the nation’s best education system — and where the proposed standards have been a subject of bitter debate." "And Mr. Finn’s group said the Massachusetts standards and the common core standards were “too close to call.”"
These two sentences were talking about the Massachusetts hadn't adopted the common core standards in their own state, they decided to having their own standards called Massachusetts standards which is similar to the common core standards. I interested about it because It showed some states are mind about the common core standards, maybe they have different ideas or plans for students of different levels.
4.Why won't you use that information?
I won't use that information because Massachusetts doesn't support the common core standards , they wanted use the Massachusetts standards which is not help in my argumentative essay.

1-''The idea behind Common Core was partly in response to employers and business leaders who said too many students across the country were graduating unprepared for the world of work. National standards would help ensure that students from Maine to New Mexico would graduate with similar skills and knowledge.''
2-i will use this information because this tells us that every student has to graduate with the same knowledge
3-Not everybody’s happy about this, including Cape Henlopen school board member Sandi Minard, who on May 9 presented a blistering anti-Common Core resolution demanding the district opt out of the initiative. It’s not clear the district would be allowed to do this, even if it wanted to.
4_i wont use this information because my essay will be about common core and i wont talk about anti-common core so i dont need information about why people are against this
