NEWS FROM THE BIG GREEN GATHERING
Since the cancelled BGG in 2009, the main thrust of the BGG has been working with other events to try to find ways of settling debts to ticket holders and this has mainly been through ticket swaps to events which share at least some of the BGG ethos and are happy to collaborate in the facilitation of ticket swaps. The BGG has arranged swaps with The 2011 Green Gathering and would like to bring their event to your attention.

We are pleased to announce a Green Gathering for 28-31 July 2011. Everyone who has enjoyed Green Gatherings in the past and new people, interested in being part of gatherings in the future should book this into their diary for the Summer season. Gathering together traditional aspects of the Green movement and gatherings with the growing Transition movement in the context of information, discussion and entertainment will create the relaxed and diverse atmosphere for a memorable event. This exciting new festival for 2011 continues the tradition of entertaining, environmentally and ethically conscious events. The four day camping event is powered by renewable solar and wind energy and showcases innovative green technology, ethical markets, organic catering, speakers and films, music and cabaret stages, healing and holistic therapies and a variety of esoteric alternatives, traditional British crafts and workshops. The location for The 2011 Green Gathering will now be Piercefield Park of Chepstow, Monmouthshire.

The team behind The Green Gathering are really delighted with the new event site; it has different levels and natural amphitheatres which will help re-create the magic and ‘zoning’ of different areas that has worked so well for the green gatherings of the past. Piercefield Park is also a beautiful place to visit with lots of interesting features nearby including ruins, standing stones, exotic trees and local legends – so you get the very best of your usual festival favourites along with all of this to discover on top - all situated along the Wye river and valley; acclaimed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At The 2011 Green Gathering first ever Transition Area will network the Transition Towns movement and local initiatives, raising local awareness of the inevitable result of climate change and the end of cheap abundant oil.
