Subject: Fw: TRANSITION TALES ROUND ENGLAND WALKER COMING NEAR YOU!

I am not sure how much out of the blue this is coming! I am Steph's
home support person. She set off on her walk on Monday (29th March).
She has asked me to take over this bit of communication as she is
finding it very difficult to spend much focussed time on her laptop.

Soooo, she is looking for places to stay and Transition Town people to
meet over the next section of her journey, along the Devon and Dorset
coast.

I am going to meet up with her on Easter Saturday and walk a little
bit, not sure how far, probably just Bridport, but this means I will
be out of email contact for a bit. So all this is a bit urgent!!! My
phone number is 01803 849094/07805 894 235 but I will be checking
emails frequently till I leave on Sat) Steph's email and mobile number
is in the standard email below which we would love you to forward to
anyone and everyone anywhere near her whole UK route, or who might be
interested.

Her next week's route schedule is as follows; obviously the second
town mentioned is the overnight stay needed:

Friday 2nd April (today!): Exmouth to Sidmouth - sorted
Saturday 3rd April: Sidmouth to Seaton (Beer) - sorted I think
Sunday 4th April: Seaton (Beer) to Lyme Regis TRIPLE HELP!!!!!!!!!
(separate email going to Turn Lyme Green contact Candida Blaker, but
if you know anyone in Lyme...)
Monday 5th April: Lyme to Bridport - sorted ? I think.
Tuesday 6th April: Bridport to Martinstown near Dorchester . SORTED!!
Wednesday 7th April: Martinstown ditto
Thursday  8th April: Martinstown to Weymouth, preferably the far side
towards Lulworth - HELP!!!!!!!!! (This is a change from the original
schedule as we have been warned that the Weymouth to Swanage bit is a
seriously tough walk so I am suggesting she leaves a day earlier from
Dorchester and breaks round about Lulworth)
Friday 9th April: Weymouth to Lulworth - I have a Quaker contact but
nothing definite sorted yet. HELP!
Saturday 10th April: Lulworth to Swanage - again I have a Quaker
contact but nothing sorted Help!
Sunday 11th April Swanage to Bournemouth - nothing sorted...Help!
Monday 12th April: Bournemouth to Christchurch - nothing sorted...
Help!
Tuesday 13th April: Christchurch to Wimbourne Minster - nothing
sorted...Help!
Wednesday 14th April: Ringwood - SORTED phew!
Thursday 15th/Friday 16th April: Minstead - WELL SORTED double phew!
Events happening on the Friday.

Dear Friend,

I am writing to anyone and everyone I can think of who might live, or
know someone who lives on the route of Steph Bradley’s Transition
Tales Quest Walk. You can follow the links for the full flavour, but
here it is in brief:

“Transition Tales”, an offshoot from the Transition Towns movement,
works through story and other experiential activities to unearth the
cultural myths of our times or even our own personal stories, which
limit and fix our expectations. As long as these remain unconscious
they hinder new visions and possibilities for the future. Transition
Tales works with whoever wishes to join the Tale, to enable the
creation of new collective stories, which will fire and inspire our
transition to a more resilient, fair and ecological culture, beyond
our present global crisis.

This work is excellent for both young people and for all age groups.
Highly recommended, an exciting way to engage people of all
persuasions and ages in the crucial debates of our times.

TRANSITION TALES QUEST:

Steph Bradley from Transition Tales is setting off on 29th March to
walk around England, using as far as possible the green lanes and
paths which link our settlements. She is inviting people to walk with
her for as long or a short a distance as they wish and if they know
the byways and green lanes of their area, to show her the way. (see
below for outline of route)

She invites people to host her along her way, and will hope to offer
her Transition Tales Work as she goes. Do read her story of how it
will be. It is inspiring:http://transitionnetworknews.wordpress.com/
2010/01/21/transition-tale...
or you can follow her blog of her journey either via Rob Hopkin's blog
(of Transition Towns)

http://transitionculture.org/2010/03/26/embarking-on-a-transition-tal...

or use the direct linkhttp://www.transitionnetwork.org/blogs/steph-bradley/

WHAT WE ARE ASKING OR OFFERING YOU:

Anyone who lives on her route might like to host her. There is a bit
of a challenge here in that as far as possible she would like to be
given “seasonal, locally produced food, which does no harm”. As she
will only walk you will need to live as near as possible to her route.
She will need to spend some time in a quiet space to write her blog of
her journey which we hope will be followed by many. If you cannot
personally help, maybe someone you know will have contacts elsewhere
along her route, so please do forward this email to any individuals,
groups or organisations you can think of who might be interested .

If you are part of a larger community group, you might like to get
together to meet her as she passes through, maybe host an event to
welcome her, ask her to tell a Transition Story and to co-create and
listen to yours, or perhaps play the Quest game with you.

If you are interested in helping in any way: meeting Steph as she
passes through, walking with her and showing her the way, hosting her,
networking with people you know on her route elsewhere in the country,
supporting financially, just go for it!

Contact Steph directly by email at transtionta...@gmail.com, reply to
me on wavebrea...@yahoo.com, or you can also ring on 01803 849 094.

TRAINING COURSE FOR WORKING WITH TRANSITION TALES:

http://transitionnetworknews.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/storytelling-fo...

gives details of a training which has now happened, but there will be
similar events along her route, in particular a full Transition Tales
training 1st and 2nd of May in Forest Row. With notice you could ask
Steph for a mini training as she travels through.

I have also attached the full story of the project if you are
interested to read more about the work (and this email as an
attachment in case that is a more convenient format). Please do
forward this email to anyone you think might be interested anywhere in
the country! Thank you.

With all the joy of the Open Road to you,

Sally Eaves (home support person for Steph)

Right - can anyone help?! Or can anyone think of anyone who could
help? As a last resort, she could stay here, but it isn't in the
slightest calm & restful, there are people coming & going at all hours
of the day & night, many of whom live here! And whilst I try to eat as
locally as possible in my circumstances, all I could offer her here
that I can guarantee has "done no harm" would be my home-laid eggs. If
anyone else can put her up, I'll gladly contribute a dozen eggs - oh,
and a HM loaf using Stoat's flour, etc...

And can any of us walk alongside her for a bit? I'll try but my range
is a bit limited just now! What about some kind of event, even if it's
just meeting up at a pub?

Angie, panicking slightly & not wanting to let the side down here!
