Dear Transition peeps,

This email is hard to write, so please forgive me if it's not all that "well put."
Just wanted to pass on some news of Richard Fuller, for those in the group who knew him though Transition or other sustainability circles.

Richard was diagnosed with brain cancer (glioblastoma) at the start of 2025, just after New Years.  He soon had brain surgery and then commenced with further treatment for the condition.  After stopping treatment at the end of April, he enrolled in hospice at the end of May.  He entered residential hospice care on November 7th, and passed on to the next life in the early hours on Saturday, November 15th.  Somehow, he managed to stay himself throughout the process...facing the reality of the prognosis with courage, letting the people around him journey with him, and riding his trusty bike as long as he possibly could.

If you think of it and want to send any prayers, positive vibes, and/or loving thoughts to Richard's longtime partner, Betsy Raasch-Gilman, and the Quaker community, that would be most welcome.

There will be a memorial service for Richard at Twin Cities Friend Meeting (1725 Grand Ave, St Paul) on Saturday, January 17th at 2pm.

And here is the obituary if you'd like to read it.

Sending this out via email seems somehow insensitive (or something), but I knew people would want to know and I didn't know how else to make that happen.

Yours in transition,
~Sarah McCarthy
