NMI Permaculture Still Winter 2019, News and Announcements

Hello Friends---

A nice sunny morning in our Northern Michigan winter-white landscape!

We had to postpone our earlier Feb. potluck because of weather conditions, and although they persist, we are looking forward to connecting tomorrow evening.  Updated info below, along with a reminder of a soil workshop downstate with the Bionutrient Food Association, and 

Potluck and Meetup,  6 pm Wednesday Feb. 27th, held at Barb Tholen's Small Ax Farm homestead in Traverse City inviting folks to also bring plans and projects for the 2019 growing season. Together we can share advice, resources, books, tools, labor for projects, plants or seeds, etc. We will do a round-robin and give everyone time as needed, and/or split into smaller groups.

ALSO:  O'k CSA, our TC based garden-farm cooperative,  continues to work together with the Real Food Campaign, Our-Sci Lab & Bionutrient Food Association collecting comparable, research quality data, with the Bionutrient Meter. We think this is a must have information source and tool for food producers and consumers. We will bring the meter with us to the potluck and share the how-to's, as well as, set up a data collecting station with milk and apples.  Join us and contribute to science while learning about your farm or garden! (I've included a little cartoon story below about being a garden-farming citizen-scientist.)

March 10th, 3-5 pm, Seed Exchange @ Traverse Area District Library

Jamie Schaub and Brenin Wertz-Roth from Poesis Community Farm will be sharing seeds, talking about seed saving, and processing seeds on Sunday, March 10th at 3pm. You are welcome to bring seeds with you to swap whether they are processed or not. Please join us even if you do not have seeds to share. All levels of experience are welcome! Facebook event here.
