Dear good people and friends,

We are launching a short series of Permaculture Meetup & Potlucks for the "Northern Michigan" region of our Great Lake State every other month this Summer and Fall.  We are hoping that we can get together, check out permaculture systems and design work in progress, find out about opportunities to dig deeper and learn more about permaculture through shared resources, friendly community networking and learning together through workshops, special events and permaculture design courses.

Our first 2018 NMI Permaculture Meetup & Potluck will be August 22, at FOREST EARTH FARM, 3830 Bowerman Rd. Kingsley, Michigan. This is the homestead of Chelsea & Corey Hansen and is only 30 min from TC.

BRING: A dish to share, beverage of your choice and your tableware.

CARPOOLING from TC is happening---and you can reach out to reserve a seat by messaging below on the event page or by contacting us via an email message: penny....@gmail.com

Here's a great introduction to Forest Earth Farm in a message written by Corey Hansen:

I hope this August day finds you fulfilled. It's the peak of the growing season here at Forest Earth Farm and we're staying busy keeping up with the harvest: freezing, fermenting, and canning nearly every day. The bees and monarchs seem more plentiful this year, we're noticing more reptiles around the farm, and several new species of birds have nested on our shared site this year too. We take all this as a sign that some of our restoration efforts are beginning to take hold. Still, So much work to do.

So far this year we've planted 111 trees on site (mostly nut and fruit) which brings our four year total up to 860 trees. Unfortunately we lost nearly every Aspen we planted last year but the bulk of the other species are doing fine to great. We've also expanded the Forest Earth Tree Nursery and have a few hundred trees that will likely be ready for the world in the Spring of 2019.

A major project this summer was the construction of the Forest Earth Greenhouse. Not only will the house extend the growing season on both sides, but it will also allow us to significantly increase our onsite tree and perennial propagation. As an added bonus someone could sleep in the greenhouse if the chicken tractors were unavailable and they needed shelter from rain :)

We are in the process of making our place a regional hub of inspiration and motivation. Soon we would like to have you all here to give our efforts greater meaning. This could become a part of you too. What we do matters. 80% of Michigan is private property. There is no space too small for restoration and connection....

Oh, and in case you've forgotten who you are...go outside and submerse your senses in nature. There. You. Are.

And you are welcome here.

Bring a friend and introduce your them and your family to permaculture!

HOPE TO SEE YOU ON August 22nd!
