Dear food and farming friends,
I'm sharing info for a group of folks in SE Michigan who are pleased to host Executive Director and organic farmer, Dan Kittredge, of the Bionutrient Food Association (BFA) at Cross W Ranch at 3111 Pickney Road in Howell, MI.
Dan will be offering his popular two-day workshop, "Principles of Biological Systems", the weekend of March 2 and 3, 2019. This workshop focuses on soil-building practices that produce flavorful, nutrient-rich foods from plants with heightened pest and disease resistance.
On February 28, 2019 he will also present an evening talk for health-minded consumers, "Unlocking Healing with Real Food" from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. In this talk, Dan will connect the dots between human health and the way our food is grown, covering:
- Why human vitality depends on soil vitality
- Root causes and systemic solutions for the current epidemic of chronic degenerative illness
- Market and community-driven strategies for reforming our food system, and
- How we can heal the environment and ourselves by producing and consuming the best quality food
If you're on Facebook, we ask that you please join us in sharing these events!

More about the relationship between soil health and human health:
Over the past century, the USDA and the FDA have measured a steady decrease in both soil quality and nutrient levels in food. You would likely need to eat a dozen or more apples to get the same amount of iron, for example, than your grandparents' apples. Across the board, the alarming trend in our food supply is a steady decline in nutrients since testing began 100 years ago.
During a comparable period, degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, diabetes, and heart disease have risen to epidemic levels.
Today, it's become undeniable that human, crop, soil, and environmental health are deeply interconnected. We're excited to share with you the ways in which we are actively working to systemically solve the problems these relationships have presented and how you can be a part of this important and historic healing.
P.s.) If you are already registered for the Principles of Biological Systems workshop, attendance at Thursday evening's talk is free and encouraged!
