Apple Pressing session

Janet Smith <janet_...@btinternet.com>: Oct 08 09:44PM +0100 Hi all,   We have someone interested in another pressing session.  They have asked to hire the equipment if there are no community sessions.   We have now come up with the following idea.   We will be setting up the equipment at our house on Sunday 12th to run their crop through first.  If anyone still has fruit that could be pressed you are welcome to come along at 3.30.  I do need to know who will be attending and it will help if you can wash the apples beforehand.  We still have some small bottles for juice.   The address is 49 Colgrove Rd. LE11 3NL.   I would like to open this up to neighbours but will see how many replies I get from yourselves first.   Janet

We will be very busy on Saturday on campus with our LAGS REUNION. Everyone invited 

- 1pm: produce swap stall (bring your garden produce to swap snd show off!)

- 3pm: afternoon tea 

- 4pm: walk round campus

- 5pm: fire

We can use any apples including windfalls.  Any bad bits get cut out when we chop them for the scratter.

Many thanks, Sue. 

We had a lovely autumn celebration yesterday, with very nice weather, and 75 people came, young and old. 

We couldn’t have apple pressing this year, because the apples on campus were ripe too early. We also were not allowed to have a bake-off, rather sad; fear of food allergies and litigation?

Anyway, we had a competition to find edible plants round the student garden; the winner found 39 different edible plants, not bad for a piece of land that had just a compacted lawn, sycamores and some conifers 15 years ago. It was a very nice event.
