It's been a while since I messaged on here!

This is something I've mentioned to Jason when I've seen him in person, but now have more details about:

I’m messaging on behalf of the Loughborough Climate Vigil (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100080595488120) to see if Transition Loughborough like to work with us on a People's Emergency Briefing.

We’re organising a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on Friday 15th May, 7pm-9:15pm at Fearon Hall, Loughborough: https://fb.me/e/6ahtoj9O0

This film is an eye-opening film featuring nine leading UK scientists and experts updating us on the latest in the climate and nature crisis and its impacts on everyday national life. It covers areas such as extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living. It is based on a longer in-person briefing given to MPs and members of the House of Lords last November. It is being screened in community venues around the country from April onwards. There is a short trailer here: https://youtu.be/5x2XhvEbz24

The film lasts 45 minutes and will be followed by a short, open discussion about what we can do and what it means locally. It features Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and surprise guests.

We have invited Jeevun Sandher MP to attend the event and will be inviting local Councillors and the press.

We’d like to invite other community groups and orgs in the area to cohost the event with us. We think this will mean more people will hear about and attend the event and we’ll be able to reach more parts of our community with this important message.

Co-hosting would involve some or all of the following:

• Putting your name/logo on the event flier and any other publicity
• Co-hosting on the Facebook event (if your group/org has a Facebook page we can arrange for that page to co-host this event page: https://fb.me/e/6ahtoj9O0)
• Advertising the event in whatever way you normally advertise events (on Facebook, in an email, on WhatsApp groups, with a physical poster on a noticeboard etc – we can provide a poster and template wording emails and social media posts).

Other things you might choose to do  in addition:

• Provide volunteers to welcome people to the event & make and serve coffees & teas during the break.
• Provide £ - we will ask for donations on the door to cover room hire and refreshment costs but if any groups that can, can be prepared to help cover any shortfall that would be wonderful. We appreciate some groups won’t be able to do this - that’s fine. The room hire cost is £87.50 and we have capacity for 80 people so we strongly suspect that donations will cover the room hire cost anyway.

We're looking to finalise a list of groups that are working with us by Monday 20^th April so that we can then start advertising.

Brilliant.

Would you like to cohost the event on Facebook?

I can also send text for any emails/messages you want to send. 

I can provide a physcial poster to have at the Repair Cafe later this month if you like.

Charnwood EcoHub and Parents for the Future Leicestershire have also agreed to help with advertising and/or help on the night. There are a couple of other groups I'm just waiting to hear from.

Hello. 

Janet - could I bring some People's Emergency Briefing fliers to your market stall on Friday so that you have some for the Repair Cafe on Saturday?

Also, would you be happy to have some fliers on your stall at the Charnwood Sustainability Fair? The Loughborough Climate Vigil was planning on having a stall to promote it but we're struggling to get enough volunteers and to find a car to transport a gazebo and tables. As TL is there anyway could I bring some fliers for you to give away?  We might be close to fully booked by then anyway (60% of tickets have been booked already) but if we're not then it would be a real help.

The other thing you could do as TL is a post on Facebook or even a post on your website if you think that would be appropriate.

You could simply repos this: https://www.facebook.com/events/940229218912609 or write a post based on the words in it.

Thanks so much for all the promotion TL has done for this event.

2. If anyone would like to join the team of volunteers who will setting up and packing down on the night please let me know.
3. Also, if TL would like to bring fliers to go on a table with fliers from other local groups pleae do bring some.
4. Finally, we will have a slide towards the end with list of local groups on it: name, logo, website, one sentence description. If TL would like to be included in this please let me have your info in the next week.
