Hello from GM Freeze

The new issue of our regular newsletter Thin Ice is out with details of the two GM field trials recently approved for planting in the UK and new signs of what Brexit could mean for GM in food and farming. There's also an article about industry moves to undermine the European Union (EU)'s strong regulation of genome editing, including a summary of new studies showing just how risky this and other new GM techniques are proving to be. The June 2019 issue is available to read on our website so please forward this email or pass on a link to friends and family who may be interested.

If you contribute financially as a GM Freeze supporter, or are part of a member organisation, you should have received your printed copy of Thin Ice in the post by now. If you are expecting a copy and it hasn't shown up, please get in touch so we can see what's gone wrong.

If you only receive emails from us but would like to receive a high quality printed newsletter - and know that you are helping the campaign for a responsible, fair and sustainable food system - please sign up as a supporter for as little as £1 a month

Keep sharing our petition

EU regulations currently mean that any GM ingredients in our food have to be listed on the packaging. GM Freeze's Don't Hide What's Inside petition calls on key UK ministers and officials to protect our right to make an informed choice by retaining and enforcing the requirement to label food containing GM ingredients throughout the UK, whatever happens about Brexit.

Please sign the petition (if you have not already done so) and share with others. Some of the best ways to do this are to:
  • Forward this email to friends and family, or send your own explaining why this is important. Remember to include a link to www.donthide.gmfreeze.org

  • Share the same link on social media. We will be running some adverts on Facebook soon so if you see those, please share them to help spread the word.

  • Get in touch if you are organising or attending any public events over the summer where you could ask people to sign paper copies of the petition. We can send these to you in the post.

This message has been sent to the GM Freeze Mailing List. If you are reading a copy that has been forwarded by a friend, please sign up here to make sure you get our news and action requests as soon as they go out.

Best wishes
Liz
