Nitrogen resources for fertilising soil

Dear All, The Soil Association has put out an important report 'Just Say N2O' which arose from the European Nitrogen Assessment's conclusion that 'too much nitrogen harms the environment and the economy'.  In other words we are wasting earth's resources by making too much artificial fertiliser (which also increases nitrate leaching into soil and creates harmful emissions). Instead  farming can be used to increase soil fertility by legume-based organic systems in a non-harmful way.

Ut's a longish report on PDF but the executive summary on pp 3 to 5 would be sufficient for most of us.
