Dear Transitioners and friends

I hope you and your families continue to stay safe and have opportunities to reflect and act on the question of how to build personal and community resilience to inform a green and sustainable recovery.

A challenge can weaken or can be a chance for growth. Our team of Trustees and volunteers has grown stronger and more active in the meantime working in virtual and where possibly safe on land.

As online ways of communication are going to continue to be important we have also increased our capacity through use of Zoom for communication, Trello for project management and Gdrive for collaboration.

Moving newsletter to Mailchimp

We are exploring the Mailchimp newsletter platform. We researched it as one of the most popular and easy to use platforms which also has the data security protections in place we expect.

We need an easy way to help us communicate about Southend in Transition and related activity locally, the community allotment and the repair cafe. We also have ambitions and skills to expand into reskilling and foraging. We need something which can make our work easier so we can focus on what matters and keeps your details safer.

What you can do

We plan to do the transfer in the next two weeks on the 24/05 Sun 17:00. Even after the transfer you will be able to opt out anytime. We want you to stay with us on this journey. If you don’t feel comfortable to use Mailchimp let us know by emailing NO THANKS and we will remove your email from our list.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING BUT SOCIAL SOLIDARITY

We received a lot of positive comments about the links we shared last time round. You can find them again below.

In the meantime let's keep building personal, local and global response and resilience in this new context.

Climate crisis has not resolved itself, any drop in emissions is likely to be quickly made back up if the stimulus and recovery package is geared at business as usual with money going to the big business, the 1% and polluting industries. It's a crisis but actions we take now will have consequences for the medium to long term so lets continue to scrutinise them through the critical lens of climate crisis, peak oil and an economy set up to create inequality and environmental destruction.
