You're probably aware that the current Planning Commission, appointed by
the Board of County Commissioners, has -- so far -- recommended that all
references to sustainability, local food, transportation connectivity, and
many other community-oriented and planet-centric suggestions be stricken
from the proposed Comprehensive Plan that will be prestented to the BOCC
for approval.
You've probably seen the article in the September 25 Durango Herald titled
"Planning Hijacked" which gives a good description of what's going on with
the Comp Plan. If you haven't seen the article, it's here:

This e-mail is to ask you to please -- VERY SOON -- write letters and
e-mails to the Board members and the Planning Department staff letting
them know you want references to sustainability, etc. included in the Comp
Plan. I've attached a Word document that will make it very easy for you to
do so. My letters have already gone in the mail.
You may get this same e-mail attachment from some of the other local
organizations you're connected to. This one is from me personally asking
you to act and let your voice be heard.
Thanks for your work in making our home a better place to live.
