Event: Marilyn Marks, Chair of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council, will speak on "Food Policy Councils in Urban Areas: the Charlotte Mecklenburg Experience," followed by Q & A and discussion.

All participants in the new local food and farming economy, whether your orientation is toward sustainable food and agriculture or toward community food security, are invited. Here is our opportunity to discuss the possibility of forming a food policy council in Durham. After all, if Charlotte can do it, shouldn't Durham be able to? The presentation by Marilyn Marks could help spark the “take-away” conversations needed to start to organize a food policy council in this region.
This event is sponsored by Research on Food and Farming for All (ROFFA), a project of the Collaborations for Integrating Research and Action (CIRA) of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and by CommunEcos, a Durham nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental and economic education toward the goals of sustainability and a more socially just society.
A table to set out brochures from your organization will be available at the Auditorium.
