Dear All,

How do we avoid extinction?  The world we have badly changed is still being funded and further compromised! With our money. By those we should be able to trust. Meanwhile the Global Incineration Project 🔥🌍 🔥 continues. We have been warned.

Vicious climate denialism pretends, "Crises, what crises?" They have apparent "scientists" funded by deadly industries.

But we know that Big Dirty Liars have told lies about their extraordinarily damaging product for  50 years  (BBC 2 documentaries) . Poor old Mother Nature is being sacrificed to these untruthful service providers.

  PREVIOUS LIES:

 a.  We nearly lost our ozone layers thanks to CFC liars.   (Thanks truthful British Antarctic Survey and others!)

 b. We nearly lost planetary oxygen thanks to the ignorant and cruel whaling industry. (Thanks truthful Greenpeace!)

Please MOVE AWAY from these horrible deadly carbonic products.   Carbon continues to pile up in our collective atmosphere, gas-chambering the whole Earth.  What is the cost of carbon to us all?

The public should be warned WITHOUR FURTHER DELAY as they were warned about the covid crisis.  Next slide please!    Next poster please!  How to decarbonise at speed and scale! There are good solutions!

If you are a representative please kindly protect us all with an extremely overdue  Public Information Programme that incentivises and motivates us all for the SIGNIFICANT SWITCHES needed if we want to retain a habitable planet.

Meanwhile our wonderful (organic) Riverford deliverers- one of the VERY FEW providers I trust- says,

GUY'S NEWS   15.8.22;  How could we be so stupid?

"10 hears ago, a visiting director from the Met Office. advised me to invest in reservoirs,  field drainage and polytunnels in preparation for climate change."...............   "Doing nothing and hoping for the best is not the way to fight, or cope with, climate change."

(Thanks Guy and Riverford!)

There is more if you want me to tell you (please contact me).

Hope to see you at the film!

  Thanks,

  Susan

Many thanks for your most welcome support Jeff,

For your extremely kind words and for your own relentless efforts over many years.

As well as for your support for Navitus, stolen from the #Fridays4Future generation who always wanted it. Clean energy for 767,000 homes!   Clean much- wanted jobs throughout the conurbation and on the IOW! Vestas' brilliant ground-breaking  blades!

Many, many others are just as determined that our wonderful world must not be scuppered by policies that belong in Broadmoor High Security Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

 We are not alone.

Brave and loving people are standing up for our future as I type. They are being arrested. Some are languishing in prison. Not just in this country. Others are being killed but their groups are fighting back; young people bringing court cases or Indigenous people in the Amazon.

A colleague mentions the NOW or NEVER approach.  He warns us HMG must decarbonise at speed & by 2025 reduce GH  gases;   as   3 Energy Company leaders just said on R4's Today- i.e. the need for HMG Action NOW ref

the gargantuan Energy prices rises situation

   And here's a Dorset councillor calling for SPEEDY ACTION;

" The scale and pace of climate chaos and accelerating biodiversity loss has surprised even the climate scientists.

I am terrified and trying very hard not to despair. I think we should stop pretending Dorset Council and government Net Zero targets are adequate or that the two main political parties of 'Growth, Growth, Growth'  are in any way acceptable.

We have to demand urgency and the need to change - decarbonisation of our industries and lifestyles is vital and Business as Usual is simply not acceptable. "

  But so far there is

SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE about AVOIDING imminent extinction event

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

            from those with our money!!!!

Where's the plan to deal with MENTAL UNWELLNESS as climate breaks down?

I copy in some organisations as there seems to be NO RECOGNITION of mental ill-health as a result of the coming  collapse of the biosphere. Something many of us have raised over the years. I am looking at official websites, including councils and MPs.

 ABSENCE ABSENCE ABSENCE ABSENCE

SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

Are our representatives asleep?       Where is the PLAN for our well-being and safety ?     😴

There is NO information about how we avoid the worst as the natural world continues to be sacrificed to deadly industries.

NO official conversations about deadly overheating events.  Eg failure of nuclear in 2003, not allowed to discharge into overheated waters as tens of thousands of elderly French folk died awful overheating deaths- a terrible way to go.

METHANE is being produced at a rate of disastrous knots from the foul fracking industry. This must stop.

Carbon capture and storage another expensive mad project!

Supermarkets are being asked by environmental groups (NOT HMG!!!)  to mend their ridiculous ways. We should not be wiping our backsides on the world's beautiful forests.

We should not be not befouling our oceans with sewage,   killing sea creatures with plastic or noise or overheating or filthy discharges.

We should not be spraying our gardens with deadly chemicals.

We should not be destroying peatlands, wetlands, habitat, pollinators, coral griefs, endless stunning species.

We should not be gobbling up all the world's resources. We should not be filled with plastic.

We SHOULD be communicating with each other about how we Salvage and Survive. Many of us are in  groups doing just this. I'm told there are over 20 local environmental groups alone. Millions worldwide are participating in clean-up events.

 10,000 activists 😇 protested outside COP26

while 500 lobbyists 😈 for deadly planet-incinerating   🔥😡👺💀🔥 fuel were INSIDE the building.

 We know this is wrong.

A very small number of deeply disturbed people, frightened for their pockets and loss of power, are influencing our fate on Earth.  If we allow them to triumph this will become like that frightening Agatha Christie where everyone commits the crime.

These people need to go. Or mend their murdering ways. We are not to be implicated in their cruel, cretinous disregard for the ecosystems that keep us breathing.

We do not give up.  Most ordinary people are aware of what's going on and are unhappy about it.

There's another excellent letter today in the Bournemouth Echo pointing out how we are shooting ourselves in the foot. The govt should stop approving new fossil fuel projects and instead invest in renewables and energy efficient projects such as home insulation. The writer, Daniel Glennon,  points out how much cheaper it is to install renewables.

Daniel Glennon   says, "We could have a safer climate and lower energy bills for good.   We just need the Government to act and we need our local MPs to take a stand against new oil and gas fields. Just like we are."

So I repeat this request please to representatives copied in.  Late as it is (and it is VERY LATE INDEED) we must act to halt the worst of this Global Incineration Event. We can limit the damage although much is already baked in.

Climate criminality must be challenged as has been done by the Climate Genocide Act Now group. There were 13 visits to 13 UK police stations on 20.11.19 anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials.

We are still, THREE YEARS LATER,  awaiting action from Bournemouth Police against the perpetrators of this deadly crime. The police have our dossier relating to the perpetrators of these Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide. No arrests at the time of typing.

It's a Dunkirk moment.  Our parents fought for a safe future and our generation has mightily benefited. We must not betray the next generation.

Good luck with your move Jeff!  Please stay in touch with Dorset, even when we are all in solar/wind-powered boats!!  ⛵   We really do need your talented, passionate articulation.

We eagerly await a PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAMME that includes information about the complete and utter mess we are in

from our representatives, local and national TheyWorkForYou. This will include Library information, Proper Wake-up decarbonising information in BH LIve and other publications.

All Hands on Deck if we want to retain a habitable planet.

All the best to you Jeff as we hopefully Salvage and Survive,

  Soo
a. Brilliant (ex Labour MP)  Alan Simpson tells us;

This breaks my heart. After getting the Feed in Tariffs amendments  into the Energy Act 2008 Ed Miliband asked me to to advise him on accelerating the shift into renewables. What I discovered was that inside DECC and Downing St there were around 100 secondees from the Big 6 energy companies, all ‘helping’ the government to draft energy policy.

This is where ‘Contracts for Difference’ came from; largely to finance/facilitate new nuclear. Unsurprisingly, it was the nuclear industry who did the drafting.
(Alan is critical of traditional  parties who avoid )
the more exciting space of decentralised, renewable energy systems thinking.

Only Caroline Lucas seems to see the bigger picture.

It may be a very British quality that things have to completely fall apart before we let go of a failed mindset. Ah, well.

   b. Here's the latest from across the waters....but it could be anywhere! Hope you're safe in Norway, or Scotland Jeff.

Imagine having to grab a few belongings, pets and a change of clothes before running from your home as it’s destroyed by a mudslide and swamped by rising floodwaters.

Terrifying.

Imagine how even more terrifying, with vulnerable people with limited mobility that you had to get out. I think about how it must feel to be constantly alert for dangerous slips and landslides.

Subject: Time Soo to move on - Dorset BCP I am sorry but a lost cause. All far too late now ... this summer a prelude.

Climate - all too late now - this summer the prelude ..

Many of us Soo have spoken up over many years but then culture is far too entrenched in BCP and Dorset.

There is no commitment for changes. And even it there was I don't see there is much now that can be done.

Sorry to say far too late. Al Gore sixteen years ago **2006** Inconvenient Truth and that was decades after the first warnings in the 1970s and 80s.

And again sorry to say but it is now time we'll all have to look out for ourselves and our families.

Hot dry heathland Dorset will as this summer continue to be one of the hardest hit drought ridden areas of UK. And so many low lying coastal areas so vulnerable to rising sea levels and flash flooding - Christchurch, Poole ...

We have the aqua wells but the ground hardens the water runs off - does not seep through to the wells. Does anyone seriously think Wessex Water - YTL Corporation
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - has any serious concern for Dorset long term water supplies?

I don't think so. These people cannot even keep sewage out of our local coastal areas.

So I am looking at Scotland where I have friends, or Norway where I have family.

Sorry Soo - all your *immense work and efforts over so many years* the administrations of this conurbation are not up to it.

They are not remotely worthy of your work.

You might as well go to the local zoo and express the horror of what we all face.

Any council that will not stop exploding highly polluting gunpowder every week - that saw off six years ago one huge clean energy offshore wind farm - will not stop bringing in mass polluting jet aircraft for mass entertainment - will not start a serious mass tree planting programme - is beyond all human hope.

Move north. Its all far too late for Dorset ... you've done Soo all you humanly could. I know of no-one who has put in more heart-felt work over more years ...

Cllr Greene is like a broken record. He would still like us to believe that the Planning Inspectorate supported the old Bournemouth Council's argument that the wind farm would massively damage tourism in Bournemouth. This is not the case at all. Section 12 of the Planning Inspectorate report examined tourism impacts at length, and found no evidence to support Bournemouth Council's claims. Their conclusion was that while there might be some negative impacts on local tourism in Purbeck, in their words "adverse impacts are unlikely to be significant when considered for the local area as a whole." b. Environmental campaigner and writer Donnachadh McCarthy says this on Facebook:

Just 5 right-wing extremist media billionaires stand between us and meaningful urgent action to protect Britain's and the planet's current ecosystems survival.
The media empires controlled by Murdoch, Harmsworth, Barclay Brothers and Desmond all oppose urgent meaningful action on the climate crisis.

How would Gandhi try and persuade Paul Dacre, currently the country's most powerful opponent of UK government action on the climate crisis to stop trashing renewable energy investment and to stop supporting the fossil fuel criminals intent on flooding great swathes of the United Kingdom - successfully invading and destroying our shores on a scale never even imagined by even Hitler?

 Another post by Donnachadh:

"VERY ARTICULATELY AND CLEARLY PUT" says political editor of Murdoch's TV station of my advocacy for carbon free economy rather than MORE fossil fuels! 🙏
Donnachadh v the corrupt oil lobbyists the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) (sic).
I was away last weekend on a 5 day break volunteering at a yoga/meditation/tantra retreat when I got a call to see if I would do a debate with the oil lobbyists GWPF, over Rishi Sunak's genocidal proposals to turbo-drive UK fossil fuel expansion.
I was undecided whether to upset my away time with such a row, but decided to make it part of the weekend's purpose.
I was glad I did as it gave me a long desired opportunity to call out these charlatans for the horrific impacts now unfolding for their successful destruction of the government's home insulation programme in 2013.
We were insulating 2 million homes at the time and now slashed to just 0.13 million/year.
This has meant SIXTEEN MILLION homes would have been insulated by now and those millions of families would now be paying far cheaper bills, as fossil fuel prices soar.
But it was pretty disgusting of Ben Pile to lie and deny that GWPF had anything to do with the insulation programme destruction, when it was their chair Lord Lawson, who took Paul Dacre, editor of Mail out to lunch, to persuade him to aim the Mail's guns at the Cameron/Osborne Tory government's "green crap", which led Osborne to destroy the insulation programme.
And the key right wing point I made to this right wing station is that if you as a right winger support fiscal rectitude, why on earth would you keep repeating the painful recessions caused by fossil fuel inflation, when we can wean ourselves off them (and save civilisation at the same time by the way from climate destruction.)
I was pleased though also, that due to the yoga, meditation and healing I was getting from the retreat as a volunteer, that I managed to be lovely and calm afterwards and it did not disturb the rest of my day! (although I will admit it kept bouncing around my head the two nights before the recording and so disturbed by retreat in that way!)
Love n courage

Medact Dorset is a group of local health workers campaigning to put pressure on the Dorset Pension Fund Committee to STOP investing in fossil fuels (Divestment).

If you are due to receive a council pension one day, you may be interested to know that your pension fund is heavily investing in fossil fuels.

  • Currently up to £141million is invested in the fossil fuel industry.
  • This industry contributes over 700 gigatonnes of CO2, which is a significant driver of global warming.
  • This in turn has hugely harmful effects on our health.
  • By reducing our dependence on fossil fuels we can protect our health and the health of future generations.

Not only will divestment have environmental benefits, there is good evidence that pension funds moving their money out of fossil fuel investments are performing better.

Ahead of the next council meeting, we need YOUR help to ramp up pressure on councillors to support fossil fuel divestment. Sign this open letter now and share with colleagues and friends employed by the council!

Dear Councillors,

As a Dorset resident and future recipient of the council pension,  I want to express my concern about our council’s investments in fossil fuel companies. BCP and Dorset councils, through The Dorset County Pension Fund, are investing approximately £141 million in the fossil fuel industry. This is fuelling the climate crisis and having devastating impacts on human health.

Just 100 fossil fuel companies have been responsible for more than 70% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since 1988. Fossil fuel driven climate change is already impacting the health of millions and threatens to reverse the last half century of gains in global health. Fossil fuels are also a major contributor to air pollution, which kills 7 million people every year according to the World Health Organisation. This is similar to the number of deaths caused by tobacco each year. I cannot stand by as my local government pension fund invests in such a dangerous and damaging industry.

I am also very concerned that the fossil fuel investments will soon drop in value, as the world transitions to a low carbon energy system. Recent developments have shown fossil fuel investments to be unreliable and vulnerable. Indeed, investors are already shunning oil and gas stocks due to underperformance.  By remaining invested in fossil fuels you are putting our pensions at risk, which is a breach of your fiduciary duty.

  • Dorset and BCP Councils have declared a climate emergency and have made a formal commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. We ask you to honour this by committing to the following action:
  • Immediately freeze any new investment in fossil fuel companies, including those made by externally managed and pooled funds.
  • Divest from the top 200 companies with the largest known carbon reserves (oil gas and coal) as soon as possible and by 2021 at the very latest.

Yours sincerely,

Local Group at Medact
