Many thanks Neil,

In the absence of Dunkirk leadership please can BCP be the voice of Climate Sanity (Salvage and Survive) as we all face up to the tsunami of grief our species has triggered by letting a deadly industry criminally get away with its mis-sold product for 60 years.

Even now, despite all the warnings (including the weighty 2006 Stern Review)  most folk are unaware of the extremely dangerous threats to the economy, to harvests and to their own safe future.

Excellent leadership and the providential protection of the critically endangered natural world is called for as never before in our history. The Happy Holocene has become the Awful Anthropocene.

It's up to us all to confront the mistakes. To Tell the Truth. To show the solutions. To vote for Mother Nature and for the protection of our planetary boundaries.

It's up to us (ALL HANDS ON DECK)  to  implement a  decarbonised route at speed and scale (as warned by John Kerry this last week).

As Dr Montgomery points out there is "no guarantee of a future at all".

We must make sure we collectively keep open a window of survival, however hard that is.

 Yesterday's Observer  P 30 tells us;

Macron, pledging £1bn, is calling for a moratorium on exploitation of the seabed in Arctic regions given the multiple "present and accelerating" threats ahead. "We are talking about a transformation of the cryosphere (Earth's ice) "that already threatens millions and will affect billions of the planet's inhabitants with multiple direct and indirect consequences."

We are dangerously losing the albedo (reflective cooling) ice effect, leaving us at risk of a potential tipping point for climate meaning yet more dangerous overheating on our only home.

Experts are terrified,  only drastic measures can avoid the worst.

Sir David King, former UK Chief Scientist and now head of the Centre for Climate Repair at Cambridge University is searching for ways to refreeze the Arctic Ocean.

Pam Pearson, founder and Director of the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative, a thinktank, warned of the urgency: "Politicians think that ice is far away. The ice does not care. It will continue melting until carbon dioxide levels stop rising and come down. But they are still rising just as fast as they were 20 years ago. Scientists are screaming that this is insanity."

Trillions of dollars of investment are needed in the developing world.

Glacier melt affects billions who depend on them for water and agriculture.

Air pollution (coal burning, soot) is also contributing to this dangerous melt.

Observer Page 40  "UK turning its back on chance to lead climate fight"

warns "we must find a last-minute way to eradicate 22bn tonnes" of carbon dioxide as the world continues its overcarbonating.

Conservative MP Chris Skidmore warns the Conservatives are "heading in a dark direction".

I hope all copied in here will rise to this spectacular challenge despite the awful mess BCP have inherited.

Many of us have come up with our own solutions/ our collective solutions and are happy to help but we do need the big players to pull the right levers.

 In hope,

 thanks,

  Susan

Dear Soo,

Thank you for your email.

In response to your FOI request, we are in the process of using the information from Dr Montgomery’s presentation to create a webpage on the Council’s website to make our climate messaging widely available.

I will send a link when this is complete.

Yours sincerely,

Many thanks for Tuesday's reply Andy,

But I am mystified by this absence of critical communication from Dr Matt Montgomery, a knowledgeable man whose talent was prized and I believe (and hope) handsomely rewarded. I understood him to have been head-hunted from new Zealand. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yet silence surrounds his document and his departure from BCP.

Why hasn't Neil had sight of this critical document from last year?

We have paid for this knowledge. It is criminally unshared with the public.

Humanity is facing terminal decline yet we are failing to keep up with communications!

Good decarbonising plans are available and need implementing without further delay.

 Many thanks,

   Susan

Please let me know why this FOI has not been answered.

As a victim of carbon bombing I copy in the police.

Dear BCP Council,

Please could you tell me why Dr Matthew Montgomery's climate wake-up call of Sept/October LAST YEAR , paid for by the public,  is not being issued to the public as a priority emergency at a time when the public needs to decarbonise at speed or face extinction?

  Many thanks,

Oh dear! Very sorry to hear you had not been made aware of it.   And  I wonder what happened before.....Thanks Neil,

Obviously Drew Mellor should have acted to protect us all but didn't!

A public version and a proper plan is just so overdue given the frightening warnings now in the Echo "life under siege"  and today from George Monbiot in the Guardian. Not to mention the Pope's Laudate Deum  and the King's warnings

Hence my FOI question in July as recommended by Tobias Ellwood. I hope soon to have an answer!

  Many thanks,

    Soo

Got it! Thanks Soo.

I haven’t seen it before, so I’ll read through and see which parts are best to use.

Best wishes,
