Many thanks Chris/Joe,

  I hope to be there.

I know you are all doing your brilliant best in a sea of treacle as another wonderful long-term campaigner on bcc says.

 BUT PLEASE

can we shout about the cretinous open goal that is governance (national/local) who know perfectly well we're all complicit with the deadly mis-sold industries who for 60 years have exposed us all to extinction, knowing the harm they would do. We are Pied-Pipering our way to annihilation as the King points out.

Crumbling buildings, crumbling planet, crumbling responses. When the Dunkirk leadership we need is absent.

The Climate Genocide Act Now group are doing their best. The police fail to act on Jon Fuller's excellent dossier submitted 20.11.19. Some folk- copied in- kindly came with me to Bournemouth Police Station on that date; the Anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials. 12 other groups also went to their local police stations that day.

Jonathan Fuller's persistent, brilliant exposés and enviable articulation to the Powers That (shouldn't) Be unfortunately go nowhere even though our case is proven.

The CGAN website is here: -

From HMG and BCP much blah blah blah but derisory action. As HMG promotes more fossil folly and Tobias backs the Air Show!

Leaving we campaigners wide open to public scepticism/condemnation as the great British public  miss out on the environmental literacy that should be every child's birthright. A few of us are published regularly in the Echo, fighting a rearguard action against ignorance, but we should really not have to do this.

Simon Bull, Conor O'Luby and I challenged in public the cretinous environmental idiocy of Bournemouth Borough Council Chamber  back in the day.  And were routinely fobbed off.

Many thanks too to the work behind the scenes of many others. Transitioners, XR, Poole Agenda 21 before disbanding a few years ago.  Excellent East Dorset Friends of the Earth communications and recommendations were also routinely ignored despite the odd crust thrown.

Philip Broadhead's deceptions were exposed at Holdenhurst Parish Hall by a feisty Wessex Fields campaigner who was unimpressed by the loss of about 3,000 objections to the carbonic road scheme.

BBCouncil saw fit as they left in 2019 to curtail democratic engagement.  A decent Tory Councillor told our Wessex Fields group the Conservatives did not take kindly to our many questions, speeches and observations. So now there are only per annum four public statements, four public questions  allowed and they are limited to 150 words each. No five minute speeches. By the way accessing democracy and means of public engagement  is still mighty tricky- a ghastly legacy I daresay.

My FOI question to BCP about when the public will have sight of a Programme of Survival remains unanswered.

The public must be informed about the complete disaster of ongoing carbon bombing and the annihilation of ecosystems, harvests etc.

They must also be told that if we choose to Salvage and Survive, plant and restore, stop dangerous Broadmoor policies and pull together on a whole raft of clean policies, there could be a future, despite the gross damage already baked in. We do have a choice.

The alternative is deadly. And we're out of time. This should not be a political issue at all.

A proper programme to educate, incentivise and motivate must be drawn up.  So far, so absent.

Drew incompetent Mellor - amongst others- sat on feisty reports such as ;  BCP Council's Environment Directive Draft Feb 2023

as well as Doc Matt Montgomery's 89 page climate document for councillors that hardly anyone's seen that   came out a year ago as our home planet continues to incinerate.

I have shown MP Tobias Ellwood Dr Matt's document and he took a photo of it.  I think he was unaware of it. This email from him below has only taken 18 years of (trying to be polite) engagement from me and no doubt many others!

Alas (having seen off the wind farm!) Tobias is backing expensive dodgy nuclear which failed in 2003 (resulting in tens of thousands of horrible elderly overheating deaths in France and is vulnerable to rising tides anyway)  which we could discuss but he also here has the underplayed figure for the UK's global carbon impact. He also calls fossil fuel subsidies "inefficient" when the word I would use would be "insane" or "criminal".

Pity then there is still NO ACTION PLAN anywhere (eg as there was for covid) on his website or any govt website.

Incinerators everywhere when we should be stopping landfill and salvaging resources.

  THIS REALLY REALLY STINKS.

Dorset Greener Homes open days are this month, including mine. Visits always welcome anyway by arrangement.

Very happy for you to share this email.

  Thanks friends,

   Soo

Tobias' email to me sent 24.8.23:

Thank you for contacting me about climate change.

It is crucial that we recognise the importance and urgency of action needed on climate change. The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has concluded that the world is warming faster than anticipated, the effects of which are being seen in every single region of our planet. Immediate global action is needed to limit warming, heatwaves, heavy precipitation, droughts, and loss of Arctic Sea ice, snow cover and permafrost.

However, the UK accounts for only approximately 1.2 per cent of global emissions; clearly, global action is required. When the UK took on the COP26 Presidency, in partnership with Italy, only 30 per cent of the world was covered by net zero targets. This figure is now at around 90 per cent. I am strongly encouraged by the ambitions of the Glasgow Climate Pact which calls on accelerated global efforts to phase down unabated coal power and phase out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, while providing targeted transitional support to the poorest and most vulnerable in line with national circumstances.

I am encouraged that the UK will produce enough offshore wind to power every home, quadrupling how much we currently produce to 50GW by 2030, and supporting up to 60,000 jobs. The Government will work with industry and aim to generate 10GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030 for industry, transport, power and homes. In addition, the Government aims to develop the first town heated entirely by hydrogen by the end of the decade. The Government has launched a new Energy Security Strategy, which will see a significant acceleration of nuclear, with an ambition of up to 24GW by 2050 to come from what I am assured by my ministerial colleagues is a safe, clean, and reliable source of power.

Other measures include a target to install 600,000 heat pumps every year by 2028, £1 billion funding to make our schools, hospitals and homes more energy efficient, planting 30,000 hectares of trees every year, promoting and investing in zero-emission transport and £20 million to develop clean maritime technology. The plan also includes a pledge to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030.

At a local level, the Government has launched a Local Energy Programme which will provide support to Local Enterprise Partnerships and local authorities to help them implement energy projects which reduce carbon emissions and benefit their communities. Substantial funding has also been provided to support Heat Networks and other low carbon projects, while the National Planning Policy Framework includes guidance on how local authorities can meet the challenge of climate change.

Nearly 400,000 people are working in the low-carbon economy and the Government is committed to creating thousands of highly skilled, well paid jobs up and down the country. For instance, I welcome that the Offshore Wind Sector Deal could see the number of jobs triple in this sector to 27,000 by 2030. Furthermore, the Net Zero Strategy lays the Government's plans for how to level up the UK, while supporting up to 190,000 green jobs in 2025 and up to 440,000 jobs across net zero sectors in 2030.

The Government also delivers the Rural Community Energy Fund, a £15 million programme, to support rural communities in England to develop renewable energy projects which provide economic and social benefits to the community.

The next decade is critical; every country, government, business and citizen must unite to tackle this huge threat to our planet and humanity.

Kind regards,

Tobias
