Thanks Jeff for another extremely  powerful letter,

I am copying in the police who have had our dossier 20.11.19 on the anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials. . The Climate Genocide Act Now group delivered it. 13 groups went to police stations, including our local police station, Bournemouth.

It is time we and our home planet -including the forces/species that keep us alive-  were protected.

Of course Planet Earth is now becoming a Crime Scene. Corrupt energy giants pretended their product was ok and lied about it for 50 years, endangering us all.

We deserve reparation for the harm done to us and the living planet.

Our leaders are arsonists continuing to incinerate our only home if they continue to dig out deadly fuels.

Currently they do not protect us with a Public Information Programme about How We Decarbonise at Speed and Scale.

They are making us criminally complicit in the use of deadly products now wiping out the natural world. Carbon bombs are a disaster.

Vast quantities of clean energy/batteries/ behavioural change/ honesty are overdue.

At least Margaret Thatcher did her best with the CFC crisis and enabled fairness for the poorer nations in the Montreal Protocol of 1987.

Another eye-watering verdict is in from the climate-wrecking Energy Charter Treaty.

A tribunal authorised by the Energy Charter Treaty has ordered Italy to pay a UK fossil fuel company over £210 million, after Rockhopper sued the country over its ban on offshore oil drilling – six times more than the company’s actual investment in the drilling project.
Rockhopper’s project triggered local outrage, and was set to frack and acidise extracted materials using aggressive chemicals that are banned here in the UK. Over 10 years Italians fought the project, and won: the government passed legislation protecting the coastline from oil drilling.

Enter the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) – the means by which fossil fuel companies like Rockhopper are challenging national policies for crucial climate action and the wins of people power, threatening democracy itself.

This treaty allows them to sue governments in “corporate courts” - private, closed-door tribunals outside of the national legal system.

Fossil fuel companies are making obscene profits during the cost of living crisis and now they want to cash in even more when governments actually take action to limit the destructive projects driving the climate crisis – with taxpayers bearing the cost.

This case will have a chilling effect on climate action, as climate scientists have warned in the most recent IPCC report. It also bankrolls Rockhopper to pursue ever more destructive projects: its share price has jumped up following the verdict.

The UK government and other member countries of the ECT have been discussing changes to “modernise” the treaty. But the current proposals would keep fossil fuel projects protected for ten more years. We know what we do in the next few years is critical to avert climate catastrophe.

We need to be cancelling climate-bomb fossil fuel projects without delay.

The UK and countries across Europe must exit the Energy Charter Treaty in a coordinated withdrawal and put an end to the huge risk they face of being sued.

Spread the word about the Rockhopper verdict by sharing on social media, or forwarding this email to a friend.

Thanks Jeff for your tireless vigilance

and thanks too for all the others copied in here involved in different ways in keeping us alive,

Subject: Shock and Awe - the world is changing ... ever growing support for offshore wind farm ..

**A referendum will overwhelmingly support an offshore wind farm.**

Good morning BCP Cllrs .... BCP MPs

Shock and awe this morning all too clearly large scale support for the offshore wind farm - all too clear in the responses to one letter this morning from one Brigitte Barnes :

Drop the Navitus Bay nonsense

In Echo comments general outrage from so many with our climate in such a dire state and our desperate need for energy all the more so clean non-polluting energy Ms Barnes comes out with :
"there are much more important things to be concerned about than getting a few windmills out in the bay."

Any Cllrs want to explain what "much more important" issues there are than taking on  massive climate change and bringing in clean sustainable energy I am sure we are all listening.

So where are you BCP Cllrs? Where are you MPs Tobias Ellwood, Conor Burns, Robert Syms, Christopher Chope? We want to know.

Here is the petition calling for opening up a public debate and better still a public referendum for residents in our conurbation.

Change.org - Petition to open up public offshore wind farm discussions

Are you supporting this Clls? I know some have - many as yet have not.

This is now the defining local issue of our age and certainly the next election.

I hope you agree. Massive climate destruction trumps all issues - including cost of living - monetary fiscal issues within human control. Climate not within human control - unless we take massive action.

Public opinion on the issue has clearly changed enormously. I am quite taken back and shocked the level of support for the wind farm. We didn't have this in 2016.

But then the world has in six years changed hasn't it. We've gone from climate urgency to time rapidly running out desperation.

And younger generations clearly speaking up. And many in their thousands clearly very angry older generations are doing next to nothing. Certainly in BCP.

We need a wave of public opinion to sweep away entrenched views blocking progress.

And indeed of all Cllrs I give all credit to Cllr Ann Stribley - the one Cllr in 2016 at BOP meetings who made a very good case for progress - comparing the mass opposition to the coming of the age of trains in 1840s to current opposition to wind farms.

My own view very strongly this conurbation divides in two - those who will support the wind farm - for all the reasons there is no other project possible in Dorset that can remotely deliver MWatts of clean sustainable energy - and those who will not support.

Thinking politically? - political self-interest - Offshore winds popularity remains high at 81%

**A referendum will overwhelmingly support an offshore wind farm.**

Strongly worded Echo Comment ... in my view justified when such views as in this letter supported by far too many leading us into the direst of states not dealing with climate and energy ...

"This woman clearly has not a remote clue what is going on in the world. Absolute garbage Barnes. "I don't want ...." Well tough - its not about what you want Barnes its about dealing with horrific climate change - bringing in the clean energy we have to have. "Interferes with shipping ...." - Ships don't have masters - boats don't have competent crew. We don't have radar. Not a clue have you Barnes. "Prestigious coastline .... " and we are super special are we? The only wind farm of forty around our coasts that has been turned down - by mobs of hysterical Brigitte Barnes's. At a time of deep deep global crisis this letter is a shocking insult to us all. "There are much more important things to be concerned about than getting a few windmills out in the bay" On this woman's account there are more important things to be concerned about than dealing with mass destruction of our climate and world. But then where does Barnes live - 200 yards from Bournemouth central beaches. The letter is nothing to do with climate warming - nothing to do with our *desperate* need for clean affordable energy - its about one thing: Brigitte Barnes. Her personal life 200 yards from the beach. Her life. Her self-interest. Multiply this by a few thousand and you see why we had all the hysterical reaction in 2015 - all the same to this day. And in this entirely missing the point the wind turbines - nine miles out at sea - will be vanishingly small in the horizon. Will be of no consequence to the well-being of the people in our towns - beyond providing us with MWatts of desperately needed clean energy. Jeff Williams
