Ladies and Gentlemen

Looking at the IPC website, I have just found the planning application from Covanta to the IPC.  I am attaching a copy of it to this e-mail.  I would like to draw your attention to paragraph 1, which states: "The generating station will have a gross electrical output of 65 Mega Watts."

This is a pitifully small amount of electricity.  Is it for this we are going to have to put up with:

  1. A monstrous carbuncle, a dark satanic mill, in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of Bedford
  2. Toxic emitions, including dioxins and nanoparticles in our air
  3. An increased risk of cancer, bronchitus and other respiratory diseases and illnesses
  4. A loss of tourism and tourism related jobs in central Bedfordshire and beyond
  5. Large quantities of toxic ash, which will have to be disposed of
  6. Increased congestion on our roads

Is this what we want?  I know I don't.  I have been gathering together information about this incinerator and putting it on my website.  You can find it at the following address:

Please keep yourselves informed about this proposed development.  If it goes ahead we will never be able to get rid of it.  Covanta have been sued for releasing poisonous dioxins in the USA.  You can see it reported here:

Please don't let Covanta gain a foothold in Bedfordshire.  They will not benefit the county.

Yours sincerely
