Nice mention of TCBA2, shame about the headline

Aw man...I told Terry Nagel several times that High Speed Rail was not our main deal and that she was welcome to sign up for a session to talk about it, but TCBA2 was about all of the cool stuff being built by people like you to make getting around on Transit easier.

I really hope this doesn't bring a flood of people thinking that we will be talking about HSR the whole time. They'll be sorely disappointed.

I invited Christopher Perkins of SkyTran, but he was already committed for the 13th.  He gives a very good presentation about Personal Rapid Transit (PRT).

It would be cool to close El Camino to cars and to have PRT instead along with grass, trees, pedestrians, and bikes/scooters in an ultimate “Grand Boulevard”.  If you had enough grass, you might even fit a landing strip or two where there used to be auto lanes!  That’s probably as likely as getting Crissy Field back, but hey, never say never!  A plane or two landing once in a while wouldn’t be so bad would it?  It’s just a scheduling issue!  Grassy soccer field for two hours, airport for one hour.  It could be done.  Probably less noisy and more safe than the current use.  Isn’t it wonderful that God gave us daydreams?

If only we could roll back time!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Crissy_field_1920s_planes_lined_up.jpg

It would be great if in the next 100 years we could undue all of the roads and sprawl created in the last 100 years.  You never know!  Could you imagine a world with grass and trees in place of all the pavement?  I think I can.
