Hi there,

I notice you don't have any GTFS feeds for Transport for NSW in the GTFS Data Exchange.

Firstly I tried uploading the feed directly, but at 217M it was too big for your site to accept.

Secondly, I'm not sure if I should submit the URL, since the official URL is behind access controls, and you can only get credentials by signing the license agreement.

So as the last resort here is the situation,

Transport for NSW publish a GTFS feed for public transport in Sydney, NSW, Australia. They release this data under a CC-BY like license (much of the text appears to come from the CC license but some has been modified for extra conditions). It can be found here https://tdx.131500.com.au/TDX_Data_Agreement.pdf

Under this license agreement, I have a script which pulls the GTFS feed from the agency using my user account and redistribute this work at http://tianjara.net/data/tdx.nsw.gov.au/non-cc-license/full_greater_sydney_gtfs_static.zip along with the required licensing attribution at http://tianjara.net/data/tdx.nsw.gov.au/non-cc-license/full_greater_sydney_gtfs_static.zip.LICENSE

I'm wondering does this qualify for inclusion in the GTFS exchange, and if so how can it be included?

Regards,
Andrew

On a side note, 227 MB zipped is a crazy big feed. It's so big that some folk can't even load it into Google's FeedValidator to check it for errors (e.g. https://github.com/tulsawebdevs/django-multi-gtfs/issues/31). The NSW transit folk are better off splitting the data into several feeds so that it's easier to handle.

Why is it so large?

Actually they do provide it in two smaller split feeds,

http://tianjara.net/data/tdx.nsw.gov.au/non-cc-license/greater_sydney_gtfs_static.zip
http://tianjara.net/data/tdx.nsw.gov.au/non-cc-license/sydney_buses_gtfs_static.zip

Looks like its the stop_times.txt and shapes.txt which fill the space.
