I've just had a rather odd response from a public servant in Singapore
after requesting access to their GTFS feed:

"The raw public transport data belong to our Public Transport
Operators.
The GTFS Feed itself belong to google.
Understand that the raw public transport data is for google use
only.
You may want to write in to google directly for your request."

Joe, on that basis are you able to send me the GTFS feed (but not the
"raw public transport data") for Singapore?

Hello,

I also need a GTFS feed (or equivalent) for Singapore, so please let us
know if this works out! I am even thinking of making it 'by hand' from
published schedule data, which might be more trouble than it's worth.

I already contacted TransitLink (who are responsible for
collecting/consolidating data from all the operators and handling the
online trip planner). In response to a request for schedule data, they
replied that they could not give me the requested data because it
contains "proprietary information."

Hey Nick,

For the sake of clarity, I don't represent Google in any of my
interactions with this mailing list. However, I agree that it would
be good to hear from someone from the relevant operators and Google
Transit folks on this issue.

Happening this fall in Vienna: http://www.iiid-expertforum.net/ and some info posted below. Would be great for somebody using Graph/Routeserver to carry the torch!

he International Institute for Information Design (IIID) in Vienna continues its highly successful Expert Forum Traffic & Transport Information Systems into the 5th year. Unsurpassed in its field, this year's event is focused on Real time information in multimodal transport networks. Real time information, enhanced by intelligent information design, can reduce experienced uncertainty, effectively diminishing the main reason why too many people rely only on their car for transportation.

The Expert Forum will focus on technical requirements and user preferences and how real time information can help determine the most convenient journey – which is often a combination of private and public transport.

In addition to the main conference, Innovations in traffic & transport information, is a special session focused on innovative projects and results beyond real time information. The session is geared to the interests of information managers, designers and educators whose professional focus is on traffic and transport information.

Our research has revealed that you have interest and expertise in transport, therefore, you might consider submitting a proposal in response to our Call for Speakers (submission deadline: April 30 2010). More information about the event, registration and details about the Call for Speakers can be found at www.iiid-expertforum.net.
