Moving one tiny step closer to a public feed, it looks like King County Metro had put their GTFS up at their password-protected download site.  This is the same download site that hosts their existing schedule data dumps and for which you will need to email Stephen Krippner (Stephen.Krippner at kingcounty.gov) to get access.

As hinted in the developer workshop, the GTFS feed isn't quite an accurate representation of the full King County Metro schedule yet.  From a quick glance at the feed, it doesn't appear to be correctly handling holiday schedules and it still has the same interlined route issues as the existing schedule database.  I will try to elaborate on this in another e-mail.

What's the new URL? I tried replacing the metrokc.gov part with kingcounty.gov but I kept getting 404ed.

Just in case everyone recieved this e-mail sent yesterday:

"King County Metro Transit is proud to announce that they have moved
their GTFS (Google Transit Feed Specification) data into their
production data access environment. Although major data changes occur
at the scheduled Service Changes (February, June & September), and
minor updates are performed on a bi-weekly basis, this data will be
updated weekly for technical reasons related to hosting the data in
the access area."

I think what's important to ask is exactly the site is updated so we
know when to grab the data weekly. :)

According to one of the files they have up, it's updated "Biweekly,
posted Saturday (AM)". The data currently up there was posted just
before noon last Thursday.
