Well, Happy New Year everyone! It can only be better than last year.
Depression, Recession? I look at it as a new start for all of us. A
challenge to make things better. George W tried his best to destroy
America and we're still here. A bit broken and beat up, but the basic
fundamentals of the country are intact enough to reverse what he's
done to it over the last eight years. I think that Obama needs to
appoint a Cszar just to reverse everything that Bush had done. That
alone is a full time job!

I feel badly for Obama, that there will be huge failures at the
beginning of his administration. It's just too late to stop the ball
rolling on so many of W's failed policies. Wars, economy, civil
rights . . . The ramifications will haunt us for years to come.

It's unfortunate that Obama will have to take the blame for failures
that he inherited but that's the way of politics. The honeymoon will
end sooner than most of us hoped.

I believe that the most important change that the Obama Administration
can make for the transgender community at this point is Universal
Healthcare WITH transgender protections. So many of our community end
their own lives because of the depression that overwhelms them because
of being transgender. IF Universal Healthcare is implemented it it
IMPERITIVE that trans people are covered for their treatments which
include HRT, GRS and FFS for MTFs and HRT, Top Surgery and GRS for
FTMs.

I've decided to work to make this happen in 2009.
