Research Supports Workplace Protections

Today HRC, together with the Center for American Progress
<http://www.americanprogress.org/> and the Williams Institute at the
UCLA School of Law
<http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/research/workplace/economic-motives-for-adopting-lgbt-related-workplace-policies/>
, released a document compiling the comprehensive research and
analysis <http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2012/05/pdf/lgbt_eo_research.pdf>
by a number of LGBT organizations in support of federal workplace
nondiscrimination protections, including an executive order barring
discrimination by federal contractors
<http://www.hrc.org/resources/entry/an-important-step-toward-workplace-equality-an-executive-order-on-federal-c>
and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act
<http://www.hrc.org/laws-and-legislation/federal-legislation/employment-non-discrimination-act>
. This database includes hundreds of pages of research from the ACLU
<http://www.aclu.org/lgbt/> , the Center for American Progress, HRC,
the National Center for Transgender Equality
<http://www.hrc.org/blog/entry/transequality.org> , the National Gay
and Lesbian Task Force
<http://www.hrc.org/blog/entry/thetaskforce.org> , Freedom To Work
<http://www.freedomtowork.org/> , and the Williams Institute.

Together, these documents make a compelling case for action by the
President and Congress to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender Americans from workplace discrimination. They detail the
breadth of discrimination facing LGBT people, the leadership by
corporate American in creating welcoming workplaces and the strong
support of the American people for employment protections. HRC will
continue to work with our colleague organizations to use this
tremendous wealth of supportive research to push for federal
protections for LGBT workers.
