ENDA - Call your Federal Reps and Senators - Demand a Vote on ENDA now
The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is not moving in Congress
as it should, the time is NOW — will you join MTPC and make a short
phone call to your legislators to keep the pressure on?
Even if you’ve done so before, please call again and forward this
message on to your friends and family and ask them to call. Congress
needs to hear from as many of us as possible to keep the momentum
going.
Just follow these three steps:
1) Call the Capitol Switchboard at
202.224.3121 and ask to speak to
your representative. (If you’re not sure who your representative is,
simply give the operator your zip code and they will connect you, or
visit
http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php
2) Follow this script:
My name is _____ and I live at (say your street address) in (say
your city and state). I am calling to ask that you please pass the
Employment Non-Discrimination Act (H.R. 3017/S. 1584) now! Lesbian,
gay, bisexual and transgender people can't wait any longer for
protection from job discrimination. So, please — no more delays. Pass
ENDA right away. Thank you for your time.
3) Go back to step 1 and call at least one of your senators (Sen.
John Kerry and Sen. Scott Brown) — we need to make our voice for
equality as loud as possible.
Rally for Transgender Rights
Harvey Milk Day Rally
Saturday, May 22nnd at 1 PM
The Massachusetts State House
Gather with Join the Impact MA <
http://jointheimpactma.com/> , MTPC,
and co-sponsors as we honor the life and work of San Francisco City
Supervisor and gay rights pioneer Harvey Milk, on what would have been
his 80th birthday, and the first public holiday celebrated in his
honor in the State of California.
The focus of the Harvey Milk Day Rally will be a cause Harvey would
have championed were he still alive: the inclusion of the transgender
community in the promise of full equality on the state and federal
level, which is every American’s birthright. In view of legislative
inaction on the Massachusetts bill H1728/S1687, the trans civil rights
bill and Federally with ENDA, the LGBT community must unite to
reinforce its determination to pass these bills and to make trans
citizens equal before the state law and LGBT equality in employment
nationally.
* Co-Sponsors: Mass Trans Political Coalition
* Boston Pride Committee
* Mass. Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus
* Anti-Violence Project
* Equality Across America
* Hispanic Black Gay Coalition
Speakers include MTPC's Gunner Scott and Nancy Nangeroni
