Hello Mysterians!
Planning for Transformus 2009 kicked off over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend with a four day planning retreat in Black Mountain NC attended by the Transformus Board of Directors, our new board clerk Theresa, and your new six member Community Planning Committee. Much progress was made and we're off to a great start. Two of this leadership group's combined goals are better transparency and more community involvement. In line with this, minutes from the weekend's meetings have been posted at www.transformus.com.
The leadership group is pleased to welcome Big Daddy to the planning committee, and warmly welcomes your input going forward. Both the board and planning committee have begun separate weekly meetings and another weekend-long leadership retreat is scheduled for early February.
We hope you share our optimism as we together plan for 2009. Your leadership group works hard to address every community concern while hosting a responsible event. The dates and location for our sixth event will be confirmed after the contract is finalized, but we still have exciting information to share with you today:
We openly solicit the community for 2009 effigy designs and ticket designs now through noon on 3/1/09. We require three things of all effigy proposals: a 30 foot height limit, your structure must incorporate bamboo in some respect, and no accelerants allowed. Please email your questions and effigy proposals to effigy...@transformus.com. 2009 event ticket designs will be accepted until noon on 3/1/09. Designs must allow for our legal disclaimer on the back. Please email ticket design questions and design submissions to ticket...@transformus.com.

To be eligible for 2009 Transformus invites you must be at least 18 years of age or older. This unanimous decision between the planning committee, board members and landowners is based upon hours of discussion, community input, local and national age-related media attention, state and federal laws, multiple child custody disputes, and recent happenings at other Southeast festivals. It is our job to host a responsible event, both from the perspectives of our Burner community and the community we build Mysteria in, and it sincerely pains us to exclude our most important family members.
Communications going forward will be distributed through this Transformus Announce List, currently subscribed to by almost 1200 Mysterians. Information is forthcoming about our 2009 Creativity Grant process, five years of event financials, Team Lead and leadership opportunities, Work/Play and Town Hall weekend info, and the much anticipated 2009 invite process.
