Hi, like many others I like to record my adventures on Minecraft and put them on YouTube. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the Technic launcher's settings to open Minecraft with a fixed resolution, such as 1080x720, which would be conducive to making, editing, and publishing YouTube videos.

If not, is there any chance of us seeing this capability built into the launcher in the future? As far as I know, it's not a difficult functionality to add. It's really just changing the start-up parameters when launching Minecraft, right?

If there is no way to let me see the repository so I can create a pull request, can anyone tell me what registry keys I need to set in order for the launcher to figure out the Java version so it can run?

Take this, save as a .reg file, change the paths to the jre you have, run to add entries (assuming you are using a 64-bit version of Java) and that is what the launcher needs to 'validate' the installed Java version.
If you have a different Java version installed and are wondering what the PRODUCTVERSION should be - look closely at the FullVersion value and you should figure out the pattern.

Dude I had to make an account just to thank you. I had an install script error for the version of java that the launcher suggests, and many people online have had the same issue with no resolution. Java just wouldn't install. I tried a different version here : =8 but the launcher didn't pick it up. If anyone else gets the error "script error line 1 char 1 expected')' " then this worked for me. Download a java runtime from somewhere other than the normal website like the one I listed (which is where microsoft sends you to when looking for java 8), then follow the steps above. To create a reg file easily I searched registry editor in the task bar, navigated to one of the locations above, exported it as a .reg file then copied the info above into the file. After that I edited the paths with my own (make sure to use the double back slash \\), saved the file, then double clicked it to run and the launcher found it and worked fine. Again thanks to you Nyuno! Lifesaver!

I use to use technic all the time. I stopped playing Minecraft about a year ago. Just opened technic back up, but now every modpack I try to play, anytime I try to join a server I get the invalid session (please restart game and launcher) error. Yes I have tried multiple times to close game and launcher and reopen. I tried opening the laucnher, logging out of my account and logging back in. I tried restarting my computer. I turned off my firewall to make sure it wasn't blocking it. I have tried everything I have found online to work through it. I do not have mulitple instances open. I cannot figure out why it will not let me connect to any server.

Summary
The Technic Launcher is a tool for installing mods or modpacks onto Minecraft. Many popular modpacks are on Technic such as Attack of the B Team, Hexxit, and Feed The Beast. Most modpacks require users to allocate more ram to be used, it's typically recommended to allocate at least 8 Gigabytes (8000 Megabytes) to ensure a smooth experience. Users are also able to customize their modpacks by adding or removing mods.

How to Allocate More Ram in the Technic Launcher
1. From the Technic launcher, choose the Launcher Options button in the top right corner.

2. Click the Java Settings Tab.

3. Choose the Memory drop-down menu and select the desired amount.

4. If the Memory drop-down does not go above 1gb of ram, you need to download the offline 64-bit version of java here.

I am having the same issue. I have never had 32-bit Java in my life and when I look up what Java version, it still says I have 64-bit, but Technic launcher says I only have 32-bit therefore I only get 1 Gb of ram. Please help!

for anyone coming to all these years-old threads looking to fix this problem, what helped me is updating whatever version of java i'm using WITHOUT uninstalling the previous version that technic was recognizing, opening the technic launcher, navigating to launcher options and changing which version of java to use. from here i was able to change my ram from 1gb to 4gb perfectly fine.

i have never had java 32bit installed. for whatever reason the technic launcher ran just fine with my 8.231 version of java 64bit, but upgrading to 8.381 made it unable to run. many people in other threads here and on reddit said to uninstall the previous version and keep the latest version, but the only thing that worked for me was having both versions and just switching which version to use within the technic launcher.

In your case, using the Technic Launcher, they might also be stored in the folder of the mod you were using when you took the screenshots, meaning in /Library/Application Support/techniclauncher/modfolder (see here).

When I try to start technic a few seconds in the game crashes and i get the error "[B#591] File version.json not found in C:\Users\lucas\AppData\Roaming\.technic\modpacks\tekkit\bin\modpack.jar" The same problem occurs when i try starting Tekkit Lite. Starting Vanilla minecraft through the technic launcher works fine though. Perhaps the problem is with a specific mod that the 2 modpacks share. Searched just about every forum post and tried their solutions

Your Technic account has nothing to do with the Technic Launcher, nor do you require to use that to log in. You have to log in using your premium Minecraft account (meaning that you must have bought the game on minecraft.net).

The best way to test if it's a Mojang or Technic problem: download Minecraft's vanilla launcher from Mojang. Log in. Did it work? Then you should use the same username and password on Technic launcher

If you have any questions or anything else to add just comment below in the forum topic, or as a comment in the video on youtube.

As a youtuber, video quality means a lot to me and getting good FPS in minecraft can be difficult if you don't know what you are doing. So I bring to you the Ultimiate FPS guide for minercraft. I have installed many unstable mods and added shaders for the difficult task of keeping them installed but improving the FPS. We take the game from an unplayable 2 fps all the way up to over 130+ fps!

This tutorial assumes that you already know how to add more ram to minecraft but if you don't read below

How to add more RAM to minecraft:

if playing on the standard launcher go to edit profile and down to java settings (advanced) then tick the JVM arguments box and paste in the following

Change the 8G at the begining to the amount of ram you want to use for example if i wanted to use 3 gb of ram i would change it to 3G.

if using the technic/ftb or the AT launcher there is a settings button somewhere on the launcher that allows you to select the amount of ram you wish to use.

Remember not to use all of your ram as the computer needs it for other things as well!

If you guys have any other FPS boosting tips and tricks, post them below and i'll add them to the top post

Not only is this a total necro, but this would only make you see the default skin as whatever you put without solving the original problem (?), is (in a small way) advocating piracy, and the technic launcher doesn't even use the .techniclauncher directory any more....

The reason it might show up incorrectly in the launcher (White head) is because Paint can't handle transparency. So it colours all transparent parts white instead, including the parts where your "hat" goes. Minecraft recognizes this and will simply not show the hat at all, but Technic Launcher doesn't and your head will be covered with white.

I tried to open the launcher on Windows 10, but it doesn't do anything. No pop-up, no message, no nothing. I tried troubleshooting the program, and it says the program is only compatible with Windows 8. Is this true, or is my computer just being stupid?

I also have this same problem. The launcher doesn't create a folder and does nothing when I try to click the icon. I have no .technic or .techniclauncher folder to modify, and yes I have all folders showing.

I have a problem too, i have technic launcher on windows 10 but I cant sign in i'm not sure what to sign in with Is it my Xbox account because that did not work and I made a mojang account and that did not work either please help.

Log in using your minecraft account information. Then, click on the MODPACKS tab. We are using The 1.12.2 "Perfectly Complex" pack. To locate it, go to the search bar and search for "The 1.12.2 Pack". It will be the top result. Once you have located the mod pack, click Install.

The Java Edition of Minecraft (available for Windows, macOS, and Linux) can be modded via the client or server.[9] Client-side mods require the player to add files to their game folder and use a mod launcher/loader such as Forge.[10][11] Server modding leaves the player's game folder untouched and only changes the behavior of the server, to which the player can log on in order to play a slightly varied game.[9] Client mods can change the appearance and some behavior of the game. Server mods (commonly referred to as plugins) can change behavior, and often add minigames, anti-cheat, or login systems. For more complex features such as adding new blocks, items, mobs, or dimensions, or changing some existing features, an equivalent mod must be added to both the client and server, so that they can interoperate. In singleplayer, the client acts as both client and server, so can run both client and server mods.
