Addiction as an out-of-control trance

There is so much about addictions which are trance-like. For example,
the repetitive compulsive behavior, the lack of options, the denial
and false-memory and delusions which occur both in some trances and in
addictions.
So, if an addiction can be treated as an out-of-control trance, then
there must be ways to terminate that trance and modify it so that it
is less compulsive and allows for a more robust life and less an
impoverished one.
