ThirteenSteps to Mentalism is a book on mentalism by Tony Corinda. It was originally published as thirteen smaller booklets as a course in mentalism and was later republished as a book[1] in 1961. The book is now considered by most magicians to be a classical text on mentalism.[citation needed]

The book describes various techniques used by mentalists to achieve what appear to be psychic phenomena such as telepathy, precognition, extra-sensory perception, telekinesis and the ability to communicate with the dead as a medium.

Together with Annemann's Practical Mental Effects and T.A. Waters' Mind, Myth and Magick, it is considered[by whom?] standard literature for any magician, mentalist, or student of stage magic who wishes to incorporate psychic entertainment into their routine. Mentalists such as Derren Brown,[citation needed] Larry Becker,[2] Lee Earle,[citation needed] Richard Osterlind[citation needed] and Banachek[citation needed] have relied upon Thirteen Steps To Mentalism for their own mental illusions.

It's an incredible resource for anyone interested in mentalism or magic. Osterlind is a master of the art, and his insights and teachings are invaluable for both beginners and experienced performers.

What's great about the DVD is its structure. Osterlind takes you through each of the 13 steps in detail, covering everything from the basics of mentalism to more advanced techniques and routines. The explanations are clear and concise, and Osterlind's demonstrations are a joy to watch.

What an incredible stroke of luck it was for me to come across this video. Actually, it wasn't really luck, since a reviewer if the 13 Steps book highly recommended it. The teaching by Osterlind feels like an old friend sharing some insider secrets ... which it is, I suppose! Well worth the money for the download, and I highly recommend it to anyone who didn't really get as much as they had wanted from the book itself.

This is a remarkable work. I am fairly new to magic and was quite interested in Corinda as it is mentioned by all blogs about mentalism, it seems. I got the book and was working my way through it, but I am much faster and better as a visual learner. I watched the discs in no time. Now, I'm going back to the book (as there is still much in the book that is not on DVDs). I would recommend this for anyone who is fairly new to mentalism, especially if you are a visual learner. It would be a little better if it was a download as only one of my older laptops even has a disc drive.
