The document structure of a SpreadsheetMLdocument consists of the element that contains and elements that reference theworksheets in the workbook. A separate XML file is created for eachworksheet. These elements are the minimum elements required for a validspreadsheet document. In addition, a spreadsheet document might contain, , , or other spreadsheetrelated elements.

After you run the Open XML SDK code to generate a minimum workbook,you can explore the contents of the .zip package to view theSpreadsheetML XML code. To view the .zip package, rename the extensionon the minimum spreadsheet from .xlsx to.zip. Inside the .zip package, there areseveral parts that make up the minimum workbook.
The workbook.xml file contains elements that reference the worksheets inthe workbook. Each worksheet is associated to the workbook via a SheetID and a relationship ID. The sheetID isthe ID used within the package to identify a sheet and must be uniquewithin the workbook. The id is therelationship ID that identifies the sheet part definition associatedwith a sheet.
The sheet.xml file contains the element that represents the celltable. In this example, the workbook is blank, so the element is empty. For moreinformation about sheets, see Working with sheets**.
A typical workbook will not be a blank, minimum workbook. A typicalworkbook might contain numbers, text, charts, tables, and pivot tables.Each of these additional parts is contained within the .zip package ofthe spreadsheet document.
Basically I have a spreadsheet with about 600 lines of tasks (issues). I have grouped them together to represent subtasks, tasks, stories, epics, etc. If I can just import the 600 tasks and able to say what project type (subtasks, tasks, stories, epics), rest of the hierarchy I can manage manually.
Sounds like you should be able to do this using Jira's CSV Import functionality. Please click on the following link to learn more about Importing data from CSV. (Please be sure to select the right Jira Server Version.)
The idea here is to Import all of the desired Issues first and then you can build your structure using Automation to include the imported Issues. For instance, if the Issues belong to Project "Project AJ", you would enable Automation, click on the "+" sign, choose Insert and enter the following JQL:

Thanks Vlad. The problem here is that the Project name (for example Project AJ) is a common name we use for all our structures. So I cannot just add that through Automation. That is why I was thinking of a structure name or ID that I can use which will be unique to this structure.
You can either define the Project in the CSV or indicate which existing Project to upload the issues into. The issues must be imported into Jira first and from there, you can either create a new structure that will allow you to visualize them or modify an existing one by editing the Inserter (if Automated) to include the uploaded issues.
Perhaps I'm missing something here, if so, please feel free to provide any additional pertinent information. But at this time, there's no option to upload issues directly into a structure from Jira's CSV Import Feature.
Thanks Vlad. I was looking for the option to upload issues directly into a structure. Looks like that is not possible. So I will try to import into a "made-up" project, so that it does not impact my current projects and I can easily identify the tasks I just added, and then use automation to make it part of the structure and then change the project to the correct project.
Hi, @Kamlesh Totlani. Are you hoping to import directly from Excel into Structure as well? As Vlad pointed out, this is not possible. However, you can import from Excel into Jira and then use Structure's automation feature to insert the new issues into your structure board.
I've imported an Excel into PBI and have been happily running some beautiful reports from it. I have however not quite figured out how to amend the structure of the Excel (e.g. add a new column, delete a column, rename a column) without breaking the refresh ability of PBI. Is there a wizard of some sort to resolve conflicts?
I too have a similar problem. I would happily use PBI but direct query mode has limitations so i thought i would use Power Query (PQ) inexcel * as a stepping stone to get the dataset into PBI desktop (PBID) and then use PBI to do enhanced data modelling. Great that works fine but when we need to update the PQ then it is necessary to do a reload into PBI losing all the enhanced modelling previously done in PBI.
Does anyone know of a solution to do a change to the PQ which can be updated in the PBID file without losing all the enhanced data modelling (measures etc...). Please don't suggest going back to the datasource and doing it there. I want to simply use PQ inexcel to import the disparate datatables into PBID and use PBI to do the datmodelling. ??
But this isn't exactly what i wantedd to do. As I wanted to keep the get dataset in excels PQ (connections ONLY) and the modelling in PBID. The import excel function defeats the object of excels PQ connection only as ultimately the data set is loadedinto PBID and hence i loose the option to publish a PBI direct query (data on-premises) only report.
The data set I'm using isn't finalised yet - we're adding fields and data to enrich the data set as we go. Not ideal for created a stable reporting model but needs must! Found that PBI does remember all the field names that haven't changed so it's only a minor task to update the ones that have!
I've been working exclusively with Excel data in Power BI, and this data has also been in flux. Fields have been removed, renamed, etc. At first, I was just getting frustrated when this happened and wiping out the data and re-importing. That didn't work very well because then I would lose all my transforms. (Unfortunately, Power BI isn't good at guessing the data types in my data.) Like you and probably a lot of people drifting in here from search engines, I knew there had to be a better way.
One day I got curious about the Advanced Editor and looked it up. This was a game changer. Now, when I get errors updating Excel data because a field has been taken out or renamed, I right click the query in the query editor and click Advanced Editor. It's so easy from there to delete fields, rename fields, or change field types.
I was hoping for advice on how to perhaps utilize excel survey data effectivly in Power BI. I have crated a cleaning log for our warehouse staff; they point their work tablets at QR codes posted in different sectors, and run through an excel survey to qiockly log their cleaning actions and any safety concerns. I included an image below. Any advice on how to set a survey up so the data is easy to use in Power BI? I guess I mostly need to count yes/no values that are generated in differetnt columns, and look at it all through a date lens.
Hey thanks for the help Sean... It took a little trial and error to figure out which fields needed to be pivoted vs. unpivoted, and I also had to adjust my survey so the questions were shorter (I added longer hints so the person filling it out would still know what it meant).
The PLS I work under inquired if the pipe and structure tables provided in our construction plans are able to be exported to excel. The only way I know how is to use the reports manage. The problem is, the provided Pipes reports don't contain all the data we are looking for. How do I modify, or create a new, Pipe report? It seems like it should be really easy to export the data to excel......I've gotta be missing something.
I would like to export all of the data represented in my structure table, as shown in the construction plans. Ideally, I could generate a Sturcture Report that would match my structure table (Number, Location, Structure, Frame & Cover, Grate Elev, Sump Elev, and depth) Once in excel, I would add a few additional columns and formulas to facilitate construction staking (i.e. - hub elevation, cuts/fills, etc..).
This might be too easy, but you can manipulate the columns you want in the Panorama; higlight the pipes or structures you want to see in the report; right-click and copy to clipboard; then paste into Excel. It's not dynamically linked or anything, but it'll make for a pretty easy solution.
There are ad on programs that perform this task but it should be included in Civil 3D 2013 and beyond. This is a pretty normal task when doing estimated quantities and tabulations. I'm currently trying to figure out how to export pipe works table data to an excel sheet. The process should be dynamically linked in both directions. AutoCad to Excel and vice versa. I do do table linking with Manhole and catch basin extracted block attribute data and that process works pretty well. I have created and manipulated my pipe network table but this table doesn't allow me to export the data to a CSV file and then into an excel sheet. What the heck? The whole purpose of linking is so we don't have to spend time typing information into the excel sheet and then linking to our dwg files. When you create a pipe network all that information is included with the network. Does anyone have a solution that allows Civil 3D users to perform table exports without having to purchase an add on? Managed Design has a program called pipes2excel that looks like it works the way I want it to work. This task should be included somewhere in this software.
