google chrome is not available in official repos.
and please think about this issue. I believe it is possible to solve this.
There are many awesome softwares in the unofficial repositories; so it is important to solve this issue.
I am attempting to download some files via undetected webdriver and everything works fine, but unfortunately often times the download gets paused and i wanted to write a loop, that detects that. I am aware that this is probably not the most elegant way but here is what i want to do: I want to check the text of the PauseOrResume button on the chrome://downloads/ page to check whether the download is ongoing or has been paused, and if it was paused just click the resume button. But, the problem is this: I can't seem to find the text inside of the cr-button. I tried some things, and this is what I ended up with.
EDITSo I didn't exactly manage to do it the way I wanted but here is what I did, which works perfectly:Instead of checking the button itself (since for the love of god, I can#t get it's text) I just check the status comment above the completion bar if it displays "Angehalten" ("Paused"). If so, I try to press the button until the download resumes, as sometimes the layout switches to "Network Error" after pressing the Resume button once, so that it needs to be pressed again. This works perfectly for me since writing large files directly server very often pauses. Never had an issue ever since.
Hi, I've been trying to download an 84.2 GB mp4 file for the past two weeks, but every time it fails. I've got an ethernet cable, tried different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge), tried a VPN, tried closing everything but the download tab, and used a download manager, but I haven't been able to download the file fully. What usually happens is that it downloads at my usual download rate, and once it gets to around 40-60 GB it'll abruptly stop, and Firefox will say that it failed. When I tried using FreeDownloadManager, it gave me an HTTP 403 error, so I'm stuck wondering if Dropbox isn't letting me download the file or if it's my ISP (that is if my understanding of what an HTTP 403 error is correct). Thanks in advance for any help.
I'll close this thread now since I've found a solution. I downloaded the desktop app and synced the shared folder onto my computer. I also upgraded to Dropbox Plus but I'm not sure if that's required. Anyways, thanks for the suggestions, Jay.
I currently have a free account. I assume I have to upgrade my account to download the file I need, then? I'm sorry if I interpreted that wrong, I'm confused by what you meant by "enough quota." Are you referring to space on my Dropbox account? That solution sounds odd to me since I have a colleague who also has access to this shared link and a free account but can download the file just fine. It seems that I'm the only one having issues.
Your response implies that I have to have a paid account in order to download a large file that was uploaded by someone with a paid account.
Someone uploaded a 76GB file and shared it with me. I have been wasting my time trying to download this file for 2 days. I get about 30-36GB downloaded, and the download fails, WITHOUT A MESSAGE STATING WHY IT FAILED.
It seems to me, DropBox is just wasting my time. If someone has a paid account, they should be able to share their files with anyone they choose. At minimum DropBox should warn them if the person they chose to share their file with, won't be able to download the file because of DropBox limitations.
Based on what I've read here, I will not be spending a dime on DropBox.
I downloaded the software but during installation i get the message - Manager can not be installed on system with internet explorer version lower than 9. Screen shot is attached herewith. Can you please help me out.
By contrast, the counterfeit 'Internet Download Manager' Chrome extension seems to be maintained by a website called "Puupnewsapp" that claims "it increases your download speed up to 500%" making it a "super software" for downloading games, movies, music, and "large files in minutes." Sounds promising.
Free Download Manager (FDM) is a reliable download manager and accelerator that improves your downloading experience and helps you organize your downloads efficiently. With this extension, you can easily initiate downloads directly from your Chrome browser and have them automatically processed by FDM.
Download manager extensions in Google Chrome can significantly reduce the time required to download many files. Some download managers work for all kinds of files and websites, and others specialize in a particular kind of file or website. If you have multiple download managers installed, you can establish the default download manager to use by installing another extension called Simple Get. While it might appear that Simple Get is functioning as the default download manager, it's simply intercepting download requests and forwarding the information to the download manager you specify.
Type the directory of the download manager you want to use in the Path box. Type the default location for downloaded files in the Destination box. Don't change the code in the Parameters box. Click "Save" when done.
Navigate to a website where you can download content. Click the download link and check to make sure that SimpleGet calls your download manager, successfully gets the file and stores it in the right place.
For comparison, Chrome's Downloads manager shows the full download link for each file (completed or not). This link also works like a normal web link which is nice for consistency/discoverability, but not directly relevant to this suggestion.
For Firefox, showing the full link makes sense if a new status line is added for it (like Chrome). Otherwise, perhaps show the TLD after a separator after the progress text (same as completed downloads). Another possibility could be a tooltip mouseover but this isn't as useful. (Incidentally, Chrome eschews tooltips in the manager page.)
