We flighted version 10.1807.2286.0 of Snip & Sketch, which included the highly requested delay snip feature. There was a bug in Build 18219 blocking the New button from working, so please try it out once you upgrade!
Unlike Screen Sketch, the Snip & Sketch app will show up on the taskbar and in the task switcher (Alt+tab), which makes it much easier to multi-task. You can also set the window size, and it even supports multiple windows.
If I'm writing a Confluence article, I'll often use Shift+Win+S, grab what I want, highlight a piece of the image with the editing tool, and then Ctrl+C it so I can paste it into my article. When I'm done, I then have a bunch of Snip & Sketch windows open.
As a Mac/Windows hybrid user, I've gotten quite used to the convenient hotkey in macOS to screenshot all, parts, or windows on the screen. I was glad to find that Microsoft has finally got there with Snip & Sketch tool, but the one thing lacking was the autosave feature. Whether you're making an installation guide (as I am) or just want to take shots that you sort through later, auto-save is critical.
You'll end up with a bunch of extra S&S windows, but unfortunately those are the breaks. If the S&S notification isn't clicked, the autosave never occurs. I would guess the tool does the saving whenever it brings a "snip" into the app. You can just right click > close all windows on the S&S taskbar icon when you're done.
I noticed from some other Googling that the folder has changed locations a few times over different Windows versions, which may very likely happen again in the future. These instructions are valid for the following windows version, which can be found under Start > About your PC
Select Mode, or in earlier versions of Windows, select the arrow next to the New button. Select the kind of snip you want, and then select the area of the screen capture that you want to capture.
To capture a video snip, open Snipping Tool, select the Record button, then select New recording, or press Windows logo key + Shift + R. Select the area of the screen you wish to record, then select Start. When you are done, select Stop. At this point you can save the recording as-is or select Edit in Clipchamp to work with it in the Clipchamp video editor.

Starting with the October 2018 Update, Windows 10 is modernizing the experience to take screenshots with the new Snip & Sketch app, which combines the legacy Snipping Tool with Screen sketch (previously part of Windows Ink Workspace).
Unlike using Snip & Sketch app when using the Screen snip button or the Print Screen key, the screenshot will copy to the clipboard. If you want to annotate the snip or save it into a file, you need to click the Snip & Sketch notifications in Action Center.

The answer to this question is yes, Snipping Tool is still on Windows 10. However, it contains fewer features than Snip & Sketch. If you are using Windows 10, then we recommend that you switch to the Snip and Sketch snipping tool.
Nevertheless, Snip & Sketch is not a perfect tool for Windows 10. Its mark-up tools and sharing capabilities are limited compared to other downloadable snipping tools. User interface of Snip & Sketch download is very intuitive and minimalistic. The user is given the option to draw a freehand sketch or a screenshot. The freehand sketch function is a drawing tool which is a pencil-like button with a crosshair to help the user draw a line. The screenshot function is a camera icon which takes a full screenshot of desktop and saves it as a PNG image. All of buttons are clearly labeled and easily accessible. Interface is user-friendly and it has a simple menu bar, which contains Capture, Comment, Capture Toolbar, Share menu items.
Application Windows Snip & Sketch is easy to use and after you have captured a screenshot, you have option to add comments to it. Only thing you have to do is to click on Comment menu item and a text editor window will appear. You can write a comment and then you must just click on Share menu item, window will appear that contains a list of most popular sites where you can share your screenshot. Only tool that is available in sketch function is pencil.
Sketch function is primarily used to draw on screen. Pencil is only tool that is available in this function. Only features available in sketch function are pencil and eraser. For notes function, user has three options. They are text, voice, text. Text is used for quick notes. Voice is for recording oneself speaking their thoughts. Text is used for handwritten notes.
It lets you take screenshots of whole screen or of specific windows, annotate them with text, arrows, shapes, save them as PNG, JPG, or PDF files. This application has technical capability to let users export their screenshots as a PDF file.
Starting with Windows 10 version 1809, also known as "October 2018 Update", Microsoft implemented a new option - screen snipping. A new Snip & Sketch app has been added to Windows 10 to quickly snip and share a screenshot. In recent versions of Snip & Sketch, you can enable a new Snip Outline feature.
But its 3 files,a .json,thumbnail, and then the actual picture. The two pngs dont have any way to differenciate themselves, the file sizes and time made and resolution and name all seem to be random so i cant pull them from that folder, it also seems to save every single snip ever so its a big mess.
The easiest way to call up Snip & Sketch is with the keyboard shortcut Windows key + Shift + S. You can also find the Snip & Sketch tool listed in the alphabetical list of apps accessed from the Start button as well as in the notification panel where it's listed as Screen snip. Or you can just search for it if you don't commit the keyboard shortcut to memory. (If you're a frequent screenshot taker, we recommend pinning the app to the taskbar.)
If you open Snip & Sketch from the Start menu or by searching for it, it will open the Snip & Sketch window instead of the small panel at the top of the screen. From here, you need to click the New button in the upper left to initiate a screen capture and open the small panel. It's an extra step to proceed this way, but it also lets you delay a screenshot. Click the down-arrow button next to the New button to delay a snip for 3 or 10 seconds.
You can also set the PrtScn button to open the Snip & Sketch tool by going to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and toggling on Use the PrtScn button to open screen snipping under Print Screen Shortcut.
Also for some reason the Snip and Sketch tool (windows + Shift + S key) locks up the machine for around 30 seconds. If you uninstall it seems to work fine. I have uninstalled on the gold image but it reinstalls when a user logs in.
Microsoft Windows 10 users may have noticed a message come up when using the Snipping Tool instructing them to "Try improved features and snip like usual with the Snip & Sketch tool." This message may be an indicator that the Snipping Tool is due to be replaced with the Snip & Sketch tool, but what is Snip & Sketch? Equally as importantly, how does it compare to the Snipping Tool?
Windows 10 finally has a complete set of screen-capture tools. After installing version 1809, you'll find a set of features that allow you to copy a rectangle, a freeform area, or the entire screen to the Clipboard, which now lets you save and reuse multiple items and even sync those clips to other devices; from the Clipboard, you can crop and annotate the screen capture (called a "snip") in the new Snip & Sketch app, and then save and share the results.
