It's looking like this will get to buses before trams.

I think the development is already done for trams (as it should, since it's been on trains for 50 years) and new trams are starting to incorporate anti-collision systems and self-driving software, but no tram systems have made a formal decision to implement it on route service yet.

Their hand was forced - too many men have been called up and killed in
the Ukraine war, so they are desperately short on staff.

I think that will be the reason a number of systems go full automation -
recruitment issues.

Back when Singapore went GoA4 for their North West line instead of GoA3
as used on the original two lines, the reason given was 'difficulty in
recruiting suitable staff to be train operators'.

Due to continuing on going issues recruiting bus drivers in NSW and
others, I suspect buses will go full automation before trams and and
existing lines get converted. Not enough people want to be bus drivers
to operated the services required.
