from my local M-Tram 21 years ago.

Mal Rowe - looking forward to new trams as well as a new year in the GTCOTS.

You make a good point.

On 1 Jan 1997 there were just two operational tram/light rail systems in Australia:

  1. Adelaide
  2. Melbourne

Now there are how many?

  1. Adelaide (expanded)
  2. Canberra (with extensions underway)
  3. Gold Coast (built and extended with another extension under way)
  4. Melbourne (expanded and with 200 new trams plus 100 more ordered)
  5. Newcastle
  6. Parramatta (just opened)
  7. Sydney (built and expanded)

As for Perth and Brisbane - there's still time to see the light (rail).
