Citadis fires.

I was in town on Friday & the trams in George St were running frequently. 

Maybe i put the mocker on them thinking they were running well. They were quite packed as well ! 

Also Canberra has just installed battery packs on their trams.

I understand that there have been some issues identified with the
batteries on these trams and the first 8 will initially enter service
without batteries.

Most (all?) of the fires on the Sydney trams have occurred in the wired sections. Most of the domestic fires involving personal transport have been attributed to incorrect charging systems. Years ago, Boeing had problems with these batteries on their 787 planes; attributed to improper charging. 

Could this be the problem here, rather than the actual batteries?

I presume the Citadis use in-motion charging? If so, the fires occur during charging then.

One of Saturday's 'Thermal events' was on the APS section. It came to a stop near Market Street.

The 2nd was in Surrey Hills near the Eastern Distributor.
