My photograph was taken at the formal handover of the Duckett collection on 14 October 2010. By this time, Peter was in very poor health suffering from dementia. Pet was very frail but was in good spirits. Peter died the following June. Pat survived another four months. In that time, I visited her at the Caulfield aged care facility where they’d both been residents after moving from the family home at Caulfield North. Pat was delighted to see me and shared some vivid memories of the Model Dockyard especially in the period when I worked there as a Saturday morning and school holiday casual.

They were very private people and Peter was an extremely strict boss. But I valued the casual employment even though models were not my primary interest.

Thanks Paul,

Not that long after the Duckett Collection was handed over to the Department of Transport library the library was closed as a cost saving measure.

The Duckett collection is very large and is how held by Melbourne Tram Museum in trust for DoT.

The picture of the couple at the new East Burwood tramway was scanned from a box of thousands of negatives and contact prints that I am slowly working through for MTM.
