RailPod is excited to announce our expansion into Australia with our launch customer Yarra Trams in Melbourne! Yarra Trams is the largest tram network in the world with over 500km of rail across the network!

RailPod introduced several new technology enhancements to include overhead wire wear measurements and grooved rail measurements to support the needs of Yarra Trams!

The RailPod team worked diligently with many long days to deliver the completed system via air freight from Boston to Melbourne. The RailPod was assembled and operational in less than one week after arrival! The RailPod team is excited to support the Yarra Trams Team delivering best in class data collection and support services!

In an Australian-first for light rail, Yarra Trams has introduced the RailPod - a breakthrough in how we monitor and maintain our network.

Using advanced lasers and cameras, RailPod records the condition of tram tracks every 10cm and trolley wires every 1cm. It will scan the entire network at least twice a year, giving our teams the insights they need to respond faster, plan smarter, and manage renewals more effectively.

This innovation is set to transform asset condition monitoring and help keep Melbourne’s iconic tram network running safely and reliably for years to come.

When exactly did they do this ? - as I used a LIDAR mounted on the front of 99u at Loftus several weeks ago to to a scan of the museum's Sutherland line. My work colleagues are analyzing the data as part of a larger environment scanning project.

I wonder if I did a LIDAR scan of a 'tram line' before they did ?
