Thanks Greg - a memorable day in a busy year for foreign trams in the GTCOTS.
I didn't get a ticket, but did get a few pics with my first digital camera.
Mal Rowe wondering what route takes you from Richmond to Glebe
“Mal Rowe wondering what route takes you from Richmond to Glebe.” It would make a very interesting interurban line but one would need a cut lunch or two for the whole tripJ

Fit a set of tram-train wheels to the R, a DC-DC converter on the roof (1500DC to 600DC) and a pantograph, it could drive from Richmond to Central on the railway. There is no connection at Central so the car would have to be lifted off the railway and carried 100m or so to the L1 route for the next leg to Glebe. :-)
The connection between the Rozelle goods line and the Goods line at Dulwich Hill was removed (and the goods line de-electrified), that would have provided a connection for 'tram train' had it not been removed and the trip could have been directly with a suitably modified tram car!
(Ok, the L1 Glebe station is not at the same place as the old Glebe line actually terminated at, but close enough!)
