There was only one more built, 554.  This batch featured resilient wheels and fluorescent lighting.
I'm not sure if the QR siding curved to run alongside the wool store, or if it entered via an opening which has been remodelled.

Note that 505 also had resilient wheels - indicated by the chrome bumper and the small R under the fleet number.

Until the early years of the Brisbane Tramway Trust the tram continued a short distance beyond the terminus shown in the photo. It was truncated to allow the QR to construct a siding to service the wool store.

This photo was taken at the truncated Belmont terminus. In July 1966 the terminus was cut back some 275 feet hence the abandoned track to the right the tram.

I haven't had confirmation or denial of my theory that this was a SPER charter.
However, despite the lack of the joke destination roll, this reinforces my memory.
This was the location where I had a conversation with John Alfred: either as a passenger, or lying in wait for it too.
That fact that we had followed it from Chermside suggests that it was carrying people whom we knew.
The fact that it is lightly loaded in this view suggests that I was standing in a photoline with most of the passengers.

This section of track had to stay open to the end: it linked to Milton Workshops.

This must be for SPER.  Since Roma St, the route has been changed to 72, correct for this line, and the destination seems to be Kelvin Gr / Newmarket /Rd only.
I can't pick the corner, even allowing for those houses being demolished for road widening.

FM 519 was chartered by the Brisbane Tramway Museum on the last day of the Adelaide Street routes. This tram now forms part of the museum 's collection at Ferny grove.

681201Su - Bardon (Brisbane Qld) - dropcentre tram 385 curving from Simpsons Rd into the terminus stub in Morgan Tce on the last day of the route, and its last day in service.  Roderick Smith.
Unlike most of my 1968 locations, this one is still recognisable today.  The inner curved rail still shows under the surface.

681201Su (Bardon?, Brisbane Qld) - dropcentre tram 370.  Roderick Smith.  After a hectic afternoon of chasing, we had a hasty dinner (hamburger?), then parked near Light St Depot, then went riding.  I suspect that this is at Bardon on 370's second-last trip there, before the party crowds descended.  Other photos show it being decorated at Stafford, and then at Bardon for the last departure.  Trees are obscuring the Google Earth view of what should be that house today.

Departure was delayed awaiting the return of a purloined controller.
Hence, this was the last of the four to enter Light St Depot.  We were able to ride in.
There was no ceremony, no speech.  Instead, police were on hand to bundle us out fast, with no time for a photo.

This is immediately outside the trolleybus depot.  The trolleybus is leaving to enter traffic on the Carina route.
Immediately ahead is the junction where trams entering the depot cross those leaving, and hence can run by gravity through the unwired yard.
Further ahead is the tram junction with the Bardon line.
Between the fence and the houses is a cutting holding four railway tracks.
The two tram tracks in the foreground still led into the workshops (just right of frame), and once continued to Rainworth and Toowong.
With the hectic day chasing last trams now over, I had a week to explore the remaining tram lines and all trolleybus routes, as I would not be back again before the closure of them all.
