Details are at:
https://transport.vic.gov.au/news-and-resources/projects/brunswick-tram-depot-upgrade

I have attached a map from the engage Victoria website showing the
general layout.  You can check out more at:
https://engage.vic.gov.au/brunswick-depot-upgrade

The new substation is externally complete (pic attached) but I am not
sure if it is energised yet.  The Upfield railway is behind the sub and
the bike path in front.

The depot fan was relayed in 2018, but it looks like it will be done
again to include connections to the new depot roads and to install
automatic stabling with depot road allocation done automatically at run in.

This system is already in use at New Preston depot.

I attach yesterday's pic of the current fan.

The only announcements about the G class all refer to routes 57, 59 and
92 from Essendon & Maidstone.

The reference to 'longer trams' could be to B2s replacing Z3s at
Brunswick as they cascade down from Essendon when the Gs arrive.

That should of course have been route 82

I have been told that "longer trams" will potentially be D1's as Bwk is likely to be taking over full operation of route 6 as after the upgrade the Combino fleet will be able to be serviced there along with Malvern.

The slot for the point bar is out of the photo for the points closest to
the camera.

The others all have point bar slots.

Steve, remember the single blade points at Balaclava Junction, changed by levering the point blade across, and then plunging the short point bar into the hole in the metal plate to activate the T light to turn the corner? I don't recall any tram ever derailing with the single blade points.

Hi Steven,

I think your 2005 date for most of the depot fan is correct - the 2018
work was just alterations to how the fan connected to the two outside roads.

The outside road closest to the depot is being used as the terminus for
router 6.

The trams go right down to the back of the traffic office. I guess it
makes changeovers a bit easier.

In the attached pic the drain pan between the tracks marks the location
of the former tram wash area.  The fence at right is temporary - put up
when the traffic office was being refurbished.
