Hi guys,

I managed to find some time to do some Tram Hunter hacking. It's
mainly UI stuff, ported over from Tube Chaser.

Give it a whirl, and let me know if you find any bugs.

One thing I know about is the 'Search' button only works properly on
the Home screen, but I think everything else works pretty well.

Hi Andy,

I see you have been having some fun with some design tweaks..

A few minor bugs / suggestions

A) Welcome Message shows on the screen even although Welcome message has
been disabled
B) Nearby Map, didn't we have different coloured pins for inbound and
outbound and while I am at it could we also have a different coloured
pin for favourites..
C) Browse Stops -> Suggest rename to Browse by Route
D) Stop Search is I think is confusing, I feel you be better off
renaming it to just search and combing both the search by ID and/ or
name functionality all on the same screen..
F) Suggest a new top level menu choice Nearby Map rather than an hidden
menu in nearby stops, I suspect people would use it over just a nearby
stop list..
G) Suggest changing the Application Settings Button to act like pressing
Menu so you see the About / Settings / Search
H) March is a bloody long time to wait for a beer.. :-)

Hi Greg,

Always thorough!

Good pick up. I had this working, but seems to have stopped now.

You suggested it before, but I never actually implemented it.
Actually, I want to re-do the whole map handling thing, but that might
come later

> C) Browse Stops -> Suggest rename to Browse by Route

That works.

I like this too. Get rid of the whole Enter TTID activity all together maybe.

Do you think Nearby should just be a map, or still a list? Or what
about a list, and we put a map pin in the Action Bar?

Not sure about this. It kinda goes against Android best practices.

> H) March is a bloody long time to wait for a beer.. :-)

Certainly is. Looks like I won't have a weekend free when I'm in
Melbourne. Would a weeknight be ok?
I was thinking that maybe it would be appropriate to meet at Transport
(Fed Square) instead :) heh

cheers,

Andy

Thanks Mate :-) You put the time in to code, so it is up to us to
invest the time to test..

No problems I could not remember if we did it or not, clearly I need
more beer to help with my faulty memory ;)

Happy to do either all a list for me makes a lot of sense because I am
close by but I can also see a map being very handy which is why I
suggested having both on the front page..

Good Point..

Laughs, yes that would work, and should be able to make a weeknight for
a beer or three.. I am not that far from Fed Square (if I am at HO) and
of course will be using Tram Hunter to check on my Tram Timetables ;-)

Thanks again Andy for your hard work..

Have not had a chance to test the update as my Nexus is with Google
getting repaired.
But I have a Question that the Nexus would not answer anyhow:
Is Tram Hacker compatible with QVGA (240x320) screens? ie as found on
bottom end HTC wildfire and Huawei Ideos phones. Hopefully it is,
because I am giving my teenage daughter a Wildfire for Xmas and she
catches the tram to school everyday . I am guessing due the the simple
graphics of the app all will be good.

Thanks..

Funny you bring it up, because I had somebody log an issue about Tram
Hunter not working on the HTC Wildfire.

The latest version *should* work on QVGA devices. It required some
magic in the manifest to make it work, which I've added in the latest
development version.

cheers

Ah terrific thanks. Cannot check myself as wont be opening the Wildfire I have bought until Xmas. But great idea to support these lesser phones as they are the ones loads of commuting kids are likely to have.

 Thanks.
