Dear David,

now, when I run aps_weather_model(‘merra2’,2,2) matlab gives these errors:

………..

Interpolate to a maximum dem height of 42250 m

Satellite pass is 6 UTC

Error using netcdflib

The NetCDF library encountered an error during execution of 'open' function -

'Unknown file format (NC_ENOTNC)'.

 

Error in netcdf.open (line 60)

        [varargout{:}] = netcdflib ( 'open', filename, varargin{1} );

 

Error in aps_load_merra (line 57)

    ncid = netcdf.open(file,'NC_NOWRITE');

 

Error in aps_weather_model_SAR (line 193)

                 [ Temp,e,Geopot,P,longrid,latgrid,xx,yy,lon0360_flag] =

                 aps_load_merra(file,model_type,coeff) ;

 

Error in aps_weather_model (line 89)

    aps_weather_model_SAR(model_type);

 

The MERRA2 downloaded file is  as: MERRA2_20150131_06.nc4

Does this format not correct?

Can you help on this?

Hi,

Matlab should be able to read this nc4 format.
Are you having this error for all the files.

Can you check the following:
1) the file exist at that path that matlab is trying to load, i.e. directory names where not changed
2) check if the file has not been corrupted, perhaps try to delete and re-download it. This looks like most reported issues on the web for that error message.

Dear David,
two questions:
1. I tried again to download MERIS data but if I use ftp://eoa-up.eo.esa.int it doesn’t work.
This link is inside  meris_download.ftp 
2. I try to download MERRA2 data, if I follow the instructions for use describe in section 12 (TRAIN MANUAL) I obtain the errors (see my previous post).
I understand that the script matlab aps_weather_model(‘merra2’,1,1) doesn’t work well. It creates a file txt  as 
MERRA2_20141015_12.nc4 :

 HTTP link  works well , because it download the following file
svc_MERRA2_400.inst6_3d_ana_Np.20141015.nc4 ,  that is not txt file and with different name  respect to name:  MERRA2_20141015_12.nc4
I want to know if anybody have found the same problems.
Note
I modified aps_weather_model to obtain semi-automatical downloading of MERRA2 data.

Hi,

Ok thats right, the data has moved.
Could you try to get the train version on github (https://github.com/dbekaert/TRAIN)
The MERRA2 data is now behind a different server which I believe might require you to log-on as well.

Ok, in terms of work-around.
As part of the download process I rename the download file to MODEL_DATE_HR.nc4.
If that's done with the files, then the rest should work again.

I can connect to  ftp://eoa-up.eo.esa.int/, see printscreen below.
Can you make sure you have a username and password to access the ftp site?

Hi David,
This link describes the steps to ESA data access. I highlight: ftp://eoa-up.eo.esa.int doesn’t work. I doesn't know if this is only my problem.
I download manually the MERIS product: example MER_RR_2PNBCM2002053_092452_000000542005_00351_00906_0478.N1.zip
Does it correct?
