Dear TrailStormers,

I needed to reach out to let you know some tragic news from the TrailStormers family.

Shakira Cruz played on our team since the founding of the Barnstormers and was our 2014 All-Star before she and her partner SJ Brooks moved to Seattle in 2016.

Over this past weekend there was a horrible accident that killed SJ. There has been an absolute circus of media around the accident including some terrible mispronouning.

For those of you who played with Shaki, I would strongly encourage you to reach out with words of love in her time of grief. Shaki is a therapist and has made coping skills, but there’s no real way to deal with this shock and tragedy.

If you have more questions, you can come to me, or google the accident. But please only offer support and comfort to Shaki.
