The long-span high-altitude bridge across Coon Creek was the key to opening up public trail access to the western addition to Hidden Falls Regional Park. This is a bridge for hikers, equestrians, bicycle riders, and endurance runners. The bridge was constructed in 2012 and opened to the public one year later in May 2013. Several times per day the bridge is used by Placer County Park maintenance trucks and the Park Rangers.
The bridge is high above the flood waters of Coon Creek, so that it will never be washed out in a extreme winter flood. The bridge abutments are anchored by concrete, steel rebar, and rock-bolts which are drilled into Jurassic metamorphic rock.
