Dear Equestrian Colleagues:

In September 2017, new parking fees and timed usage were established for Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays for Hidden Falls Regional County Park because of horrible congestion.

This was done with careful planning,  public input, and vote of the Placer County Board of Supervisors.   It is still free to park on weekdays, when it is not congested.  The careful public input came from equestrians, hikers, botany photographers, and mountain bikers.  All agreed that the severe congestion on Saturdays and Sundays was an acute problem.

My report is attached.  This is a changing situation, so please visit the website of Placer County Parks for the latest updated information about Hidden Falls.  Yes, there are future plans for an entirely separate equestrian parking lot, north of Coon Creek.  So stay tuned.  (smile).

In the meantime, equestrians who are bold and tough, can ride at Hidden Falls in marginal winter weather, when others (hikers who prefer sunshine), are not likely to use the parking lot.   Our fabulous horses do not mind chilly weather, as long as riders have a warm horse blanket in the horse trailer for the ride home.

With sustained support from Robert H. Sydnor, AERC Trail Master and Geologist
