This coming Saturday, 9/8, is the TrailFactor group run on the Timberline Trail. This is the trail that goes all the way around Mt. Hood.

We'll start at Timberline Lodge and head west/clockwise. You can go as far or short as you like, turning around and going back the way you came whenever you want. I don't know of anyone planning to do the entire 40-mile loop at this point.

Meet at the east end of the Gateway Transit Center parking garage at 7:30 am to carpool, or on the steps of Timberline Lodge at 9:15.

Bring some cash to chip in on gas if carpooling and to buy a refreshment in the Lodge bar afterwards.

Route details here:  http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wiki/Timberline_Trail_around_Mount_Hood_Hike

This really is a beautiful run. Hope to see lots of you on it!

Oh man I love that run!  Wish I could join this weekend!  Last year we went counter clockwise but if people aren't doing the entire circumnavigation then I do think it is a good idea to go clockwise and head back...There are some really beautiful sections going west from Timberline....Paradise Park, Ramona Falls, etc.

If you need some more enticement Joe Grant took some amazing photos last summer and you can read more about details, etc. on the link below.  Have fun to all of you heading out there this weekend!  http://yassinediboun.com/yassinediboun/blog/item/mt-hood-circumnavigation-august-9-2011?category_id=379

Happy Trails!

I just ran Bunker to Bonneville 50K this weekend...although I would love to circumvent Hood...I'm thinking and out and back to Paradise or Ramona Falls would be good...I'm new to this "group" but if anyone is interested, I would love the company - Saturday, anytime would be good - I'm happy to drive - would actually love to start closer to 8:00..any takers?  Sat or Sun?

Hi Renee,

What is your goal time for being out on the T-line trail?  Will most people be running for time, so that everyone finishes close to each other?  How many runners are you expecting altogether?

Thanks!

William

This is a fairly unstructured thing.

I bet there will be several different goals. I'm planning to run 20 or so miles.

People can chime in here if they want with their plans. We'll figure it out at the Gateway when we see who shows and have to decide how many cars to take, and probably again at the trailhead.

I plan to do the whole loop.  Is anyone else planning to do the same?  Please?

Greg and I are planning to run shorter-like 10-12 max. Anyone who is running short can ride home with us-we have room for 3.
