If there is any interest, I'd like to meet somewhere over a burger and beer and talk about building a Portland Area Trail Map similar to this:

Simple but effective.

The meeting could include:
1. "How to build a map" - there are free DIY online tools but you need to do a little text editing to customize the output and to combine multiple trail systems
2. What do we want on the map - only trails on properties with public easements? Snowmobile trails? Road linkages?
3. What the map would look like - color coding (for example by trail type: singletrack, snowmobile, road)
4. Would we want a private map including all known trails? This is useful not just for personal reasons but also for planning public access.
5. What site would host the map?

Is there anyone out there with JAVA skillz?

Note the Maine Trail Finder site but there are some limitations to this site. Regardless, we could export our public-acesss files to that site (which I'm doing with Falmouth).

Ahh,  I've been thinking about this for a while.  Zak and I briefly talked about something along these lines.  I'd get together sometime with ya.

Count me in (time and location permitting).
I think Four/Blaine/Chuck are Java gods... :-)
I can figure it out if I have to.

justin hall on the rage mtn bike group corrected me - it's javaSCRIPT that we need to know! And apparently javascript has nothing to do with java only netscape used the name to get instant cred.
