Since many of us run with screw shoes I asked the owner of Ice Spikes
to send me a bunch of their product to test out. Here's the deal. If
you have a blog or facebook page and you're willing to give an honest
assessment of the product I can get you a free package. Please let me
know ASAP er...@tri-maine.com.

Sign me up!

I've been putting in a few miles on pavement lately and that really
wears down the sheet metal screws. If these things hold up better I
may be interested, although it's hard to beat the price of sheet metal
screws.

I agree with you Ian, but let's give them a spin and then see what the price is. Sheet metal screws are cheap and easy to replace.

These things are supposed to last 5 times as long as metal screws
because
they're some kind of a titanium alloy. They're also designed not to
retain snow.
The company is out of FL and Peterborough, NH. They claim the screws
will last
longer than the shoe.

I took the regular screws out of my shoes last night and installed the
ice spikes. They went in ok but the actual screw is smaller and does
not feel as solid once installed. It seems there might be a higher
probabilty of these screws getting pulled out on rough surfaces like
rocks or roots or even rough ice. The old screws didn't move or wiggle
when I pushed on them with my fingers....the new ones did.

They do seem like they will have more grip because of the design, I am
using them tomorrow at the GAC fatass so we will see how it goes. At a
price of about .50 cents each, if they come out easy and have to be
replaced a lot then having the strength to last longer will be a mute
point.

I'm pretty skeptical that these are worth the price, but for free, I'd
certainly be willing to give 'em a shot.

If you still have a set, I'll participate.

I had to move on this quick so I ordered 8 packages. Should be in next
week. If more than 8 want some we will have to share. Each package
comes with about 24, and they recommend 12 per shoe.

Wow, that's a lot of instructions for "screw them into the bottom of
your shoe."

If you have a spare bag, I can give them a try, but if not then I'm
happy with my sheet metal screws.
